AWS Announces Availability of P2 Instances for Amazon EC2

@machinelearnbot

With up to 16 NVIDIA Tesla K80 GPUs, P2 instances are the most powerful GPU instances available in the cloud. "The massive parallel floating point performance of Amazon EC2 P2 instances, combined with up to 64 vCPUs and 732 GB host memory, will enable customers to realize results faster and process larger datasets than was previously possible." P2 instances allow customers to build and deploy compute-intensive applications using the CUDA parallel computing platform or the OpenCL framework without up-front capital investments. To offer the best performance for these high performance computing applications, the largest P2 instance offers 16 GPUs with a combined 192 Gigabytes (GB) of video memory, 40,000 parallel processing cores, 70 teraflops of single precision floating point performance, over 23 teraflops of double precision floating point performance, and GPUDirect technology for higher bandwidth and lower latency peer-to-peer communication between GPUs. P2 instances also feature up to 732 GB of host memory, up to 64 vCPUs using custom Intel Xeon E5-2686 v4 (Broadwell) processors, dedicated network capacity for I/O operation, and enhanced networking through the Amazon EC2 Elastic Network Adaptor.

Microsoft Centralizes Artificial Intelligence Efforts as Executive Steps Down

#artificialintelligence

Microsoft Corp. MSFT 0.35 % took advantage of the departure of an influential executive to reorganize efforts around artificial intelligence, one of its strategic priorities. The company announced Thursday that it is concentrating its artificial-intelligence operation in one group. The move comes as Qi Lu, a highly regarded executive in charge of the Office products and Bing search-engine businesses, recovers from a bicycle injury sustained a few months ago. His recovery has been slow, a person familiar with the matter said. Harry Shum, who led the company's research efforts, now will lead artificial intelligence efforts as well, Microsoft said.

RAVN Systems Launch the ACE Powered LPP Robot - Artificial Intelligence Technology to Automate LPP Review

#artificialintelligence

RAVN Systems, leading experts in Artificial Intelligence, Search and Knowledge Management solutions, announced today the launch of a RAVN ACE powered Robot for LPP (Legal Professional Privilege) review, allowing clients to automate the review of determining if material is subject to LPP. The LPP Robot uses state of the art AI (Artificial Intelligence) techniques to automatically read through vast document collections, such as case material in litigation, as well as other document types, to determine whether individual items are subject to LPP. The accuracy levels achieved by the Robot making these determinations now surpass traditional manual efforts and is several orders of magnitude faster. The solution exploits supervised iterative Machine Learning models inside the RAVN ACE (Applied Cognitive Engine) platform, meaning the Robot will become more accurate over time. It is a technological leap from legacy predictive coding methods that sometimes are used today.

Google Adds More Artificial Intelligence to B2B Cloud Services

#artificialintelligence

Alphabet Inc's Google has renamed its business-to-business cloud computing brand and enhanced some enterprise applications using artificial intelligence, the company's latest gambit to better compete with Amazon.com and Microsoft Corp. in the lucrative cloud business. Discussing the rebranded Google Cloud, Diane Greene, senior vice president of Google's enterprise business, said the company has made good progress courting customers and improving its technology. Cloud computing uses remote internet servers to store, manage and process data, and Google offers a range of apps like word processing and email, as well as the ability to host data and offer resources for developers. The new name replaces the Google for Work brand. "We are closing the gap incredibly fast" with competitors, Greene, a former CEO of VMware who joined Google last year to ramp up its cloud business, told experts and journalists at an event.

Leading Visual Recognition AI Company Clarifai Launches New Tools To U

#artificialintelligence

Clarifai, the leading visual recognition AI company that uses sophisticated machine learning to understand images and videos, today announced two new products: Custom Training and Visual Search. Available for developers and businesses of all sizes, these products significantly further Clarifai's mission to empower all developers and businesses to easily build visual recognition solutions into every app and business workflow. Custom Training puts the power to train artificial intelligence into the hands of every developer and business, allowing them to "teach" Clarifai's visual recognition API to understand everything we see in the world around us in a matter of seconds. Users can train concepts as granular as a specific brand of clothing in an image or video, and they can also create "custom models" that recognize specific sub-categories to match their distinct needs (e.g. New concepts can be trained with high accuracy orders of magnitude faster than before, requiring less than ten images per concept as compared to the thousands of images per concept traditional AI training required.

Artificial Intelligence Learns the Stock Market - FreshNews

It was an accidental discovery. Miami based start up, Premonition, was set up to do legal analytics. They assembled the World's largest litigation database and trained an artificial intelligence system to read it. While primarily focused on finding the performance of individual lawyers before specific judges to determine potential relationships, they noticed that a particularly prolific foreclosure attorney produced an 83% win rate for one of his bank clients, while another was only winning 16% of their foreclosures, essentially the same case types. "We couldn't figure it out and had all kinds of foolish theories why," Premonition co-founder and inventor, Toby Unwin confides.

HiringSolved Introduces RAI, the First Artificial Intelligence Assista

#artificialintelligence

HiringSolved, a technology company that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to solve problems for talent acquisition practitioners, has introduced RAI, an artificial intelligence assistant for recruiters. RAI is built upon HiringSolved's TalentFeed search engine, which uses a layered approach to search relevance, combining multiple scoring algorithms to find the best results. Similarly, RAI's flexible Knowledge Engine provides recruiters with detailed insights about companies, skills, title concentrations and specific people that can be sorted based on location, gender and more. Specifically regarding diversity, RAI is able to predict candidates' genders through HiringSolved's Diversity Search tool, which uses proprietary data that HiringSolved has access to, as opposed to relying on published statistics as most companies do. For instance, if a recruiter wants to know Google's male-female ratio, the engine analyzes every employee working for Google, predicting their gender with an error rate of 3%, and computing the ratio.
