Udacity's Next Generation Of Machine Learning And Data Science Courses: An Early Review
I like to keep regular tabs on the state of data science education in America. As one of the hottest fields in the economy, I find that the quality of data science courses is a leading indicator of the state of online education innovation. So, when I see significant new develops in online education technology, I'll dedicate some time to taking the course (and, selfishly, I like to learn new data skills). One website that I've used before, Udacity, recently launched several new courses on artificial intelligence, machine learning and statistics. I've had mixed experiences with Udacity in the past.

OpenCV Text Detection (EAST text detector) - PyImageSearch
In this tutorial you will learn how to use OpenCV to detect text in natural scene images using the EAST text detector. OpenCV's EAST text detector is a deep learning model, based on a novel architecture and training pattern. It is capable of (1) running at near real-time at 13 FPS on 720p images and (2) obtains state-of-the-art text detection accuracy. In the reminder of this tutorial you will learn how to use OpenCV's EAST detector to automatically detect text in both images and video streams. To discover how to apply text detection with OpenCV, just keep reading!
Random Forests · UC Business Analytics R Programming Guide
Bagging (bootstrap aggregating) regression trees is a technique that can turn a single tree model with high variance and poor predictive power into a fairly accurate prediction function. Unfortunately, bagging regression trees typically suffers from tree correlation, which reduces the overall performance of the model. Random forests are a modification of bagging that builds a large collection of de-correlated trees and have become a very popular "out-of-the-box" learning algorithm that enjoys good predictive performance. This tutorial will cover the fundamentals of random forests. This tutorial serves as an introduction to the random forests.
Learn to Program Self-Driving Cars (and Help Duckies Commute) With Duckietown
There is a strong and natural relationship between robots and rubber duckies. Being small, cheap, colorful, and pleasingly compliant, duckies became a sort of physical Stanford Bunny--when you want to show the scale of a robot, or give a robot something to visually locate or grasp or something, just toss a duckie in there. This relationship was formalized through the 2016 ICRA conference, where duckies inspired a bunch of videos and some poetry that is surprisingly not terrible. Since then, duckies have been taking over in robotics--at this point, I'm fairly certain that Andrea Censi at ETH Zurich is held hostage by (and doing the bidding of) a small army of little yellow duckies. This would explain why an entire duckie village full of duckie-sized autonomous cars that you can learn how to program is now on Kickstarter, with the hope that you'll help them take over the entire world.

Artificial intelligence gaining ground as college teaching tool
Proponents say that professors freed from routine tasks by AI technology can further challenge students to get a deeper understanding of material and assess them more accurately. For instance, adaptive courseware allows a professor to use a dashboard to assess how students are doing with homework and quizzes, check their mastery of the work and then perhaps offer a weekly lesson to fill gaps. Beyond that, researchers are developing technology that can provide study tips based on student behavior and work, or even guide teachers to provide teachers with feedback. Grades, researchers say, don't change much when AI is used. Nevertheless, a 2018 Gallup-Northeastern University survey shows that of 3,297 U.S. citizens interviewed, only 22% with a bachelor's degree said their education left them "well" or "very well prepared" to use AI in their jobs.
Applications of artificial intelligence - Wikipedia
Artificial intelligence, defined as intelligence exhibited by machines, has many applications in today's society. More specifically, it is Weak AI, the form of A.I. where programs are developed to perform specific tasks, that is being utilized for a wide range of activities including medical diagnosis, electronic trading, robot control, and remote sensing. AI has been used to develop and advance numerous fields and industries, including finance, healthcare, education, transportation, and more. AI for Good is a movement in which institutions are employing AI to tackle some of the world's greatest economic and social challenges. For example, the University of Southern California launched the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Society, with the goal of using AI to address socially relevant problems such as homelessness. At Stanford, researchers are using AI to analyze satellite images to identify which areas have the highest poverty levels.[1] The Air Operations Division (AOD) uses AI for the rule based expert systems. The AOD has use for artificial intelligence for surrogate operators for combat and training simulators, mission management aids, support systems for tactical decision making, and post processing of the simulator data into symbolic summaries.[2]
