NASA is investing in technology that could help mine asteroids and the moon for precious resources
NASA says its presence on the moon won't just be for show. With new technology, the agency hopes to mine natural resources on the lunar surface as well as reachable asteroids. Through NASA's Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program, the agency said it will begin to explore the feasibility of robotic rovers and mining technology that could make space mining a reality. To do so, it has green-lit two mission concepts this month. NASA wants to get a jump-start on mining in space with a tandem of proposals that would develop future technology.
Catfish capitals? Alaska tops the states where your online romance may be a scam
Summer romance is in the air and the special someone you just met at an online dating site or on social media seems too good to be true. The sad truth is the person just might turn out to be. NVIDIA Launches EGX - An Edge Computing Platform With Multi-Cloud And AI Capabilities
At the Computex event in Taiwan, NVIDIA unveiled EGX, a multi-cloud and AI-enabled edge computing platform for enterprises. NVIDIA EGX is a unified edge computing stack that can span from the tiny Jetson Nano to a full rack of T4 servers. Customers can start small with EGX and gradually scale to support full-blown GPUs. NVIDIA is optimizing the software stack to power devices such as drones to dedicated servers that can handle AI inferencing at scale. NVIDIA Edge Stack is an optimized platform powered by NVIDIA drivers, a CUDA Kubernetes plugin, a CUDA container runtime, CUDA-X libraries and containerized AI frameworks and applications such as TensorRT, TensorRT Inference Server and DeepStream SDK.
Opinion The dangers posed by AI-driven 'deepfakes'
Academics and researchers typically accuse the media of scaremongering and painting dystopian scenarios, especially when it comes to the coverage of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered algorithms. They do have a point, especially as machine learning and deep learning algorithms are exactly what power most of the software and smart devices that we use in our daily lives, be they smartphones, cameras, Internet of Things (IoT) devices or voice assistants. Smartphone penetration and advances in image recognition, for instance, are turning phones into powerful at-home diagnostic tools, while these cutting-edge algorithms are helping doctors, researchers and technology companies revolutionize healthcare. Besides, AI in conjunction with IoT (sensors and wearables), robotics, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) is playing a very important role. Further, researchers use AI systems to help radiologists improve their ability to diagnose and track prostate cancer. Nvidia researchers have generated synthetic brain MRI images for AI research with the aim of helping doctors learn more about rare brain tumours.

European Union AI Ecosystem Charlotte Stix Artificial Intelligence Policy
Compared to other global powers, the European Union (EU) is rarely considered a leading player in the development of artificial intelligence (AI). Why is this, and does this in fact accurately reflect the EU's activities related to AI? What would it take for the EU to take a more leading role in AI, and to be internationally recognised as such?
Build and scale your business' AI capabilities
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are two of the most popular and powerful technologies in the world at preset. In fact, it is believed that the market of AI and ML is forecasted to grow in huge numbers. In fact, even the voice searches are forecasted to grow at approximately 270% across India. In fact, AI is expected to touch even the most unexpected areas across the world. For example, Agricultural industry, astronomy and the field of defense are a few of the areas where we didn't expect AI to make such huge impact.
Financial services sector forges ahead with artificial intelligence ZDNet
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is quickly expanding within the financial services industry in the US, according to a new report from Broadridge Financial Solutions, a provider of technology to banks, brokers, asset managers, and other businesses. Broadridge surveyed 153 financial services professionals at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Operations Conference & Exhibition in May 2019, and found that the sector's top priority for AI applicationsis data mining, cited by 36% of the respondents. That was followed by post-trade processing (20%), market analytics (13%), and trading systems (12%). A majority of respondents (84%) said their company is in or past the "Enlightenment Age" of AI, during which they are at or beyond proof of concept. Twenty-nine percent have moved into the "Industrial Age", with pilot programs, and 20% are in the modern "Information Age," with AI in full production.
Industry Award - SIGAI
