Stunning footage has revealed the first evidence that leopard seals share food -- with the marine mammals caught divvying up a penguin as they feast on their kill. The ground-breaking footage was captured by a drone flying off the coast of the island of South Georgia, in the southern Atlantic. Researchers said that leopard seals are normally regarded as being solitary creatures. The Antarctic predators are largely'intolerant' of each other, but can be forced to hunt alongside each another when congregating in areas of plentiful prey, the experts added. The leopard seal is named for its black-spotted coat, whose pattern is similar to that of the big cat, though the seal's coat is grey rather than golden in colour.

Yet, bringing together world leading companies in data, analytics and artificial intelligence (AI), BT Sport has attempted to do just that. Combining historic performance data from sports industry leaders Opta and Squawka, BT Sport has fed the information into a machine learning model. This calculated the attacking and defensive strengths of each team, as well as the likelihood of events such as transfers and injuries, to calculate the probable scoreline of each match in the season. So where does the AI model's Premier League predictions 2019-20 place your team; where will they claim their biggest victory, and how will they perform against their biggest rivals?

Artificial intelligence (AI) still can't see the future, but a new algorithm may come close: Using nothing but written movie summaries, the AI can consistently tell which films will play well--or rottenly--to critics and audiences. If the model can be further refined, it could one day help producers predict whether a movie will be a flop at the box office, before it's even made. To test several models, researchers used plot summaries of 42,306 movies from all over the world, many collected from Wikipedia. The models broke up the summaries by sentence and used something called sentiment analysis to analyze each one. Sentences considered "positive," such as "Thor loves his hammer," would receive a rating closer to one.

Sensyne Health plc (LSE: SENS), the British clinical AI technology company, today announces that it has signed an initial two-year collaboration agreement with Bayer to accelerate the clinical development of new treatments for cardiovascular disease using Sensyne Health's proprietary clinical AI technology platform. The initial agreement will generate revenues for Sensyne Health of £5 million across the two-year collaboration. Sensyne Health's partner NHS trusts will receive a 4% share of all revenues generated by Sensyne Health under this collaboration. This will be in addition to the NHS Trust's existing shareholdings in Sensyne Health plc. The NHS Long Term Plan identifies cardiovascular disease as a clinical priority and the leading condition where lives can be saved by the NHS over the next 10 years.

A company's most valuable asset is its human capital. In fact, people skills were ranked as the third most important force that will affect enterprises in the next two years by more than 12,800 C-level executives who participated in the most recent IBM Global C-suite Study. In addition, only half of the 2,100 CHRO participants said they currently have the people skills and resources to execute their business strategies. Many of California's local law enforcement agencies have access to facial recognition software for identifying suspects who appear in crime scene footage, documents obtained through public records requests show. Three California counties also have the capability to run facial recognition searches on each others' mug shot databases, and others could join if they choose to opt into a network maintained by a private law enforcement software company. The network is called California Facial Recognition Interconnect, and it's a service offered by DataWorks Plus, a Greenville, South Carolina–based company with law enforcement contracts in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Santa Barbara. Currently, the three adjacent counties of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino are able to run facial recognition against mug shots in each other's databases. That means these police departments have access to about 11.7 million mug shots of people who have previously been arrested, a majority of which come from the Los Angeles system.

In their work to unearth evidence of fraudulent activities, forensic accounting investigators dig through diverse data looking for anomalies that suggest something is just not right. But as the massive volumes of data collected by companies balloon, this task has become increasingly arduous, time-consuming and humanly impossible. Instead of investigators manually reviewing spreadsheet rows and columns, looking for three or four data elements that together indicate a suspicious transaction, ML can peruse thousands of data elements -- instantly. The regrettable consequence is the greater chance of a well-thought-out scam slipping through the cracks. A case in point is healthcare fraud, which has been estimated to cost the United States tens of billions of dollars annually.
