How New A.I. Is Making the Law's Definition of Hacking Obsolete

#artificialintelligence

Imagine you're cruising in your new Tesla, autopilot engaged. Suddenly you feel yourself veer into the other lane, and you grab the wheel just in time to avoid an oncoming car. When you pull over, pulse still racing, and look over the scene, it all seems normal. But upon closer inspection, you notice a series of translucent stickers leading away from the dotted lane divider. And to your Tesla, these stickers represent a non-existent bend in the road that could have killed you. In April this year, a research team at the Chinese tech giant Tencent showed that a Tesla Model S in autopilot mode could be tricked into following a bend in the road that didn't exist simply by adding stickers to the road in a particular pattern.

China - The Future of Artificial Intelligence Research? -- AI Daily - Artificial Intelligence News

With this population that will continuously grow as the years go by, it's inevitable that the technology in China will have to improve and become more efficient to meet this population surge. Simple technological devices need to be produced more efficiently and productively to meet the demands of new families and new children. Thus, artificial intelligence is growing at a direct rate with this population growth. China's artificial intelligence needs to be up-to-date, proficient, and versatile, more so than any other nation. It is this need that brings China to the position of being considered the new hub of AI research - over any other nation in the world.

Rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in agriculture - FutureFarming

#artificialintelligence

Agriculture is seeing rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), both in terms of agricultural products and in-field farming techniques. According to research company MarketsandMarkets, the AI in agriculture market was valued at USD 600 million in 2018 and is expected to reach USD 2.6 billion by 2025, at a CAGR of 22.5% during the forecast period. The report states that cognitive computing in particular is all set to become the most disruptive technology in agriculture services as it can understand, learn, and respond to different situations (based on learning) to increase efficiency. According to Apurva Agarwal, Associate Director, Electronics and Semiconductor, MarketsandMarkets "The combination of the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence technologies, such as machine learning, computer vision, and predictive analytics, allow farmers to analyse real-time data of weather conditions, temperature, soil moisture, plant health, and crop prices in real time." Weather tracking and forecasting are important applications of AI in agriculture as it facilitates gathering up-to-date information of prevailing weather conditions such as temperature, rain, wind speed and direction, and solar radiation.

How will AI Change Healthcare? Robot-Assisted Surgery and Virtual Nurses are Just the Start - Dataconomy

#artificialintelligence

Technology is driving a major revolution in patient care. These days, wearable devices and healthcare applications on smartphones are putting the power into patients' hands, allowing them to be more involved in their healthcare and in improving their overall health and wellness. At the same time, robots are now making their way into hospitals around the world, easing personnel shortages and enabling better care for patients. But these changes are just the beginning. Artificial intelligence (AI) is paving the way for smarter healthcare robots, improved drug development, advanced wearables, and a fundamental change in how we approach patient care, emphasizing preventative care over unnecessary interventions.

Toyota Updates Concept-i, e-Palette Autonomous EVs For 2020 Tokyo Olympics Carscoops

#artificialintelligence

Toyota will roll out a fleet of approximately 3,700 vehicles for the 2020 Olympics, 90 percent of which will be electrified. The Japanese automaker says it aims to achieve "the lowest emissions target level of any official vehicle fleet used at the Olympic and Paralympic Games." Following the reveal of the Accessible People Mover (APM) specially designed shuttle, Toyota has released details about two models modified for the Olympics: the e-Palette and Concept-i electric vehicles. The e-Palette is battery-electric shuttle with Level 4 autonomous driving capability that supports smooth transport over short distances. It features a low-floor and electrically-operated platform that leaves little to no gap or opening between the curb and the bus at stops.

Artificial intelligence and cybersecurity: The real deal

#artificialintelligence

If you want to understand what's happening with artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, look no further than this week's news. On Monday, Palo Alto Networks introduced Magnifier, a behavioral analytics solution that uses structured and unstructured machine learning to model network behavior and improve threat detection. Additionally, Google's parent company, Alphabet, announced Chronicle, a cybersecurity intelligence platform that throws massive amounts of storage, processing power, and advanced analytics at cybersecurity data to accelerate the search and discovery of needles in a rapidly growing haystack. So, cybersecurity suppliers are innovating to bring AI-based cybersecurity products to market in a big way. OK, but is there demand for these types of advanced analytics products and services?

#artificialintelligence

Recently, in cognizance of this seismic shift, the world's top AI researchers met in Asilomar, California to deliberate on AI principles and goals. In doing so, this eminent artificial intelligence society gifted humanity a framework of how to own the future. It is only by navigating AI ethical dilemmas, that we will avail the life saving technologies of applied artificial intelligence. The EU in its Responsible Research and Innovation initiative calls for investment in legal, social and ethics [LSE] research. Investment in LSE research will generate knowledge that can match artificial intelligence goals and society's needs.
