Release Date For The Physical Copies Of AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Has Been Pushed Back
We may have some potentially bad news for players anticipating AI: The Somnium Files, as Spike Chunsoft has recently announced that physical copies for the game have been delayed. In a near-future Tokyo, detective Kaname Date is on the case of a mysterious serial killer. Date must investigate crime scenes as well as dreams on the hunt for clues. AI: The Somnium Files will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on the 17th of September. Novel Math Theory Could Upgrade Machine Vision
A team of Italian mathematicians, including one who is also a neuroscientist from the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown (CCU), in Lisbon, Portugal, has shown that artificial vision machines can learn to recognize complex images spectacularly faster by using a mathematical theory that was developed 25 years ago by one of this new study's co-authors. Their results have been published in the journal Nature Machine Intelligence. During the last decades, machine vision performance has exploded. For example, these artificial systems can now learn to recognise virtually any human face โ or to identify any individual fish moving in a tank, in the midst of a large number of other almost identical fish which are also moving. The machines we're talking about are, in fact, electronic models of networks of biological neurons, and their aim is to simulate the functioning of our brain, which is as good as it gets at performing these visual tasks โ and this, without any conscious effort on our part.

Therefore, a properly developed XAI is one that possesses, at a minimum, all the attributes of perfect information. And once that parameter is fixed, the XAI is deemed properly developed and ready to provide a variety of risk mitigation benefits. One example of how this can work is in dispositive-centric efforts, including in crafting safe harbors.

Artificial intelligence (AI) can improve various aspects of healthcare. It can help reduce annual expenditure,[1] allow early detection of diseases, provide round-the-clock monitoring for chronic disorders, and help limit the exposure of healthcare professionals in contagious environments. The use of AI in healthcare systems in Africa, in particular, can eliminate inefficiencies such as misdiagnosis, shortage in healthcare workers, and wait and recovery time. However, it is important to safeguard against issues such as privacy breaches, or lack of personalised care and accessibility. The central tenet for an AI framework must be ethics. This brief discusses the benefits and challenges of introducing AI in Africa's healthcare sector and suggests how policymakers can strike a balance between allowing innovation and protecting data. Making AI Systems Fairer Will Require Time, Guidelines
Christoph Lutge, director of the Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence at Germany's Technical University of Munich, said there is "a chance that these AI systems might be fairer eventually, but they will need guidelines." In January, the Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence was established at Germany's Technical University of Munich (TUM), with initial funding from a five-year, $7.5-million grant from Facebook. The Institute has issued its first call for proposals, and an advisory board was recently appointed. The Institute's director, Christoph Lรผtge, holds the Peter Lรถscher Chair in Business Ethics at TUM. Lรผtge recently spoke about ethics in artificial intelligence (AI) generally, and the new Institute specifically. A study by researchers from the University of Rochester found an exodus of artificial intelligence (AI) professors from North American universities to the private sector has reduced the prospect that graduate students will found new AI companies. Those graduates who did start a company usually attracted less venture capital, with the field of deep learning especially affected, according to "Artificial Intelligence, Human Capital, and Innovation," by Michael Gofman and Zhao Jin. This academic attrition could hinder innovation and economic expansion over time, the researchers suggest. The technology industry mostly ignored deep learning's potential until 2010, but interest grew as the Internet produced more data and new computer chips reduced the analytical burden. Large tech companies have hired many academic specialists, including two recent recipients of the ACM A.M. Turing Award honored for their work on neural networks.
McDonald's buys startup to add automated drive-thru ordering
McDonald's Corp. is making a bet it can automate the task of taking drive-thru orders. The world's biggest restaurant company is buying startup Apprente Inc., a developer of voice-recognition technology for use in the restaurant industry, to help speed up lines. The idea is to eventually have a machine, instead of a person, on the other side of the intercom to relay orders to kitchen staff. In Chicago-area restaurants where the system is already being tested, employees still oversee drive-thru order-taking and can step in when needed. The acquisition is McDonald's third tech deal in the past six months, and fits into the company's push to lean more heavily on machines and artificial intelligence to boost sales.
