We've created a conversational user interface (UI) that allows people to intuitively communicate with databases so they can get answers from their data quickly and easily. What does this look like in practice? We're focused on helping small and medium-sized businesses make their data work for them, so we've built our interface to facilitate data access and analysis through natural language processing and dynamic query building. In simpler terms, users can ask questions in their own words and get answers from the business software they use day-to-day, in real time. We believe that being able to understand and access your data can help you make strong decisions about your business.

How to explain AI in plain English

#artificialintelligence

Cognitive scientist and Dartmouth professor John McCarthy coined the term artificial intelligence (AI) in 1955 when he began his exploration of whether machines could learn and develop formal reasoning like humans. More than 60 years later, AI is the hottest tech topic of the day, from the boardroom to the breakroom. The vast majority of technology executives (91 percent) and 84 percent of the general public believe that AI constitutes the next technology revolution, according to Edelman's 2019 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Survey. PwC has predicted that AI could contribute $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030. AI powers voice-based devices, filters our email, and guides our search results.

How AI and Process Automation Is Reinventing Finance - Workflow

#artificialintelligence

When a major consumer company recently disclosed a multimillion-dollar accounting goof that had gone undetected for three years, it was forced to revise financial statements going back to 2016. The revelation sent its stock plummeting and prompted an ongoing SEC probe. Emerging technologies are doing more than streamline finance workflows. Ultimately, AI's greatest potential benefit for CFOs, managers and accountants is to help them make smarter, faster data-driven decisions. "The market is increasingly dynamic," says Meenakshi Tripathy, senior director and head of finance business products at ServiceNow.

Toronto-Dominion Bank Group is using a software tool built in-house that explains how its artificial-intelligence systems make decisions. The tool, which TD talked about for the first time earlier this month, was developed so that software engineers at the bank could tell its business executives how its systems arrive at conclusions, according to Tomi Poutanen, TD's chief AI officer. It was first deployed in mid-2018.

Google claims it has finally reached quantum supremacy

New Scientist

This could be the dawn of a new era in computing. Google has claimed that its quantum computer performed a calculation that would be practically impossible for even the best supercomputer – in other words, it has attained quantum supremacy. If true, it is big news. Quantum computers have the potential to change the way we design new materials, work out logistics, build artificial intelligence and break encryption. That is why firms like Google, Intel and IBM – along with plenty of start-ups – have been racing to reach this crucial milestone.
