Artificial Intelligence Triggers a Paradigm Shift in the Digital Lending Industry

#artificialintelligence

Today, terms like Gen-Z and Millennials are the craze words for most businesses world over as they account for more than 60% of the demography. Unsurprisingly, everyone wants to understand what moves them emotionally, physically and financially. Moreover, their communication and consumption behavior is shifting trends and in many cases, causing trends to emerge. One of these trends is that of the Digital lending marketplace where one can avail any kind of loans at the click of a button! Notwithstanding the higher cost of capital, the enticing factors of this digital lending marketplace are bespoke lending products, convenient & quick disbursement and completely paperless transactions.

Air Force AI Plan Treats Data as 'Strategic'

#artificialintelligence

The U.S. military's approach to AI is equal parts offense and defense, acknowledging that primary adversary China could also weaponize the technology as a form of asymmetrical warfare in which U.S. military superiority is blunted by dual-used AI technologies. Hence, the service said it would seek to organize and leverage its vast trove of operational data to develop new algorithms for future sensor as well as command and control systems. "Depending on the strategic choices we make now, our ability to operate around the globe may be blunted or bolstered by the adoption of--or hardening against--artificial intelligence," notes the U.S. Air Force's AI strategy released in September. The Air Force plan is part of a broader Defense Department effort to ramp up military AI capabilities under a Joint Artificial Intelligence Center created last year to coordinate AI R&D. The DoD strategy relies heavily on partnering with technology companies, a stance that has generated push-back at leading AI developers like Google.

The rise of the financial machines

#artificialintelligence

THE JOB of capital markets is to process information so that savings flow to the best projects and firms. That makes high finance sound simple; in reality it is dynamic and intoxicating. It reflects a changing world. Today's markets, for instance, are grappling with a trade war and low interest rates. But it also reflects changes within finance, which constantly reinvents itself in a perpetual struggle to gain a competitive edge.

Major Breakthrough: AI Creates a New Drug Candidate in Just 21 Days

#artificialintelligence

In a world first, Insilico Medicine, a Hong Kong-based startup developing deep neural networks for drug discovery, has successfully synthesized and pre-clinically validate a drug candidate in just 25 days, making the drug discovery process, including the designing stage, take about 46 days. According to Insilico's research team and its collaborators at the University of Toronto, the method of designing new kinds of molecules by using a deep generative artificial intelligence (AI) model โ€“ called generative tensorial reinforcement learning (GENTRL) โ€“ not only set a record time compared to traditional methods but also proved to be 15 times faster than a typical pharma corporation's efficient R&D process. It's worth pointing out, especially for readers unfamiliar with the big pharmaceutical industry, that it takes more than a decade and millions of dollars to discover and develop a drug candidate. What's even more depressing about this inefficient industry that keeps passing off the illusion of innovation for real innovation, is that in the last twenty-plus years the success rate for a drug candidate entering Phase I trials have stagnated at under 10%. Meanwhile, in pre-clinical phases the failure rates for new compounds is over 99%.

Impact of Machine and Human Collaboration via Artificial Intelligence

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the way to work, live, and do business. From smart homes to robots, companies are depending on AI to expand their business. It allows them to invent new things to improve the lives of their customers. In this process, the government is playing its role by offering SRED financing. The Canada SR&ED (scientific research and experimental development) provides support for partnerships, individuals, and corporations who are involved in empirical development and scientific research in Canada.

Pacific Northwest National Lab plays role in federally funded AI research center

#artificialintelligence

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is joining forces with two other research powerhouses to pioneer a new $5.5 million research center created by the U.S. Department of Energy to focus on the biggest challenges in artificial intelligence. The Center for Artificial Intelligence-Focused Architectures and Algorithms, or ARIAA, will promote collaborative projects for scientists at PNNL in Richland, Wash., at Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico, and at Georgia Tech. PNNL and Sandia are part of the Energy Department's network of research labs. ARIAA will be headed by Roberto Gioiosa, a senior research scientist at PNNL. As center director, he'll be in charge of ARIAA's overall vision, strategy and research direction.

Military Drones Now Common to Nearly 100 Nations, Report Finds

#artificialintelligence

A study by researchers at Bard College's Center for the Study of the Drone found that at least 95 countries currently own unmanned military drones. A report by researchers at Bard College's Center for the Study of the Drone estimated that 95 countries currently own unmanned military drones--up from 60 in 2010--and the infrastructure to support their operation also is expanding. Bard's Dan Gettinger said drones "are featuring more prominently in world affairs, as we've seen most recently in the Saudi drone attacks." The report found the U.S. monopoly on long-distance military drones is eroding, with at least 10 nations, including Azerbaijan and Nigeria, using drones to launch strikes. Fifteen countries have training academies for drone operators, according to the report.
