Shape Security: How This Unicorn Is Leveraging AI to Tackle Cybersecurity Crimes

#artificialintelligence

Key Takeaway: Shape Security, which became a unicorn last month after raising $183 million to date, has developed an AI-powered engine that helps distinguish humans from bots and protects businesses from an increasing threat of cyberattacks. It is now one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S. When Chipotle customers across the country complained this […]

Combination of AI and radiologists more accurately identified breast cancer

#artificialintelligence

An artificial intelligence (AI) tool--trained on roughly a million screening mammography images--identified breast cancer with approximately 90 percent accuracy when combined with analysis by radiologists, a new study finds. Led by researchers from NYU School of Medicine and the NYU Center for Data Science, the study examined the ability of a type of AI, a machine learning computer program, to add value to the diagnoses reached by a group of 14 radiologists as they reviewed 720 mammogram images. "Our study found that AI identified cancer-related patterns in the data that radiologists could not, and vice versa," says senior study author Krzysztof J. Geras, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at NYU Langone. "AI detected pixel-level changes in tissue invisible to the human eye, while humans used forms of reasoning not available to AI," adds Dr. Geras, also an affiliated faculty member at the NYU Center for Data Science. "The ultimate goal of our work is to augment, not replace, human radiologists."

Top 10 Institutes For Bachelor's / Engineering In Data Science and Artificial Intelligence In India - Analytics Jobs

#artificialintelligence

Are you a student looking for the top 10 colleges for pursuing bachelor's/Btech in data science and artificial intelligence? In fact, as soon as a child passes high school, he/she starts to inquire about various colleges and universities which match his learning profile so that he gains proficiency in the subject which he decides to study. There are subjects that are not traditional in nature and require extra efforts to look into so that the right decision is taken. One such subject is Artificial Intelligence, which calls for counterfeit of human intelligence procedures by computers and other machines. This course requires expert faculty to teach so that students get adequate knowledge and are able to meet the industries' demands with their skills.

MaxQ AI Integrates With Philips CT System for Hospitals & Radiology Departments

#artificialintelligence

MaxQ AI, an Israeli-based medical diagnostic AI company announced that the company's Accipio intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) and stroke software will be integrated on Philips' computed tomography (CT) systems. MaxQ AI will be demonstrating the company's full suite of Accipio solutions during the upcoming Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2019 Annual Meeting in Chicago. The integration of Accipio's AI-powered solutions into Philips CT systems will support the detection of ICH to augment caregivers in identifying and prioritizing patients suffering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, head trauma, and other life-threatening conditions. The Accipio platform will be available with new Philips CT systems and as an upgrade to previously installed Philips CT systems throughout U.S. and E.U. markets. MaxQ AI's ACCIPIO ICH and Stroke Platform utilizes deep learning technologies to analyze medical imaging data such as non-contrast head CT images.

Microsoft, Nuance Partner to Develop Ambient Clinical Intelligence to Combat Clinician Burnout -

#artificialintelligence

Today, Microsoft and Nuance Communications announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of Nuance's Ambient Clinical Intelligence (ACI) solution, announced at HIMSS earlier this year. Built on Microsoft Azure, the partnership will bring together the two companies' strengths in developing ambient sensing and conversational AI solutions in order to reduce the burden of clinical documentation, so doctors can focus more time on patients. Physician burnout is at epidemic levels. A recent study shows that primary care doctors now spend two hours on administrative tasks for every hour they're involved in direct patient care. Physicians reported one to two hours of after-hours work each night, mostly related to administrative tasks.

Mind-reading technology is everyone's next big security nightmare ZDNet

#artificialintelligence

Technology allowing our thoughts and feelings to be translated into a digital form – and shared – is already a reality. Brain computer interfaces (BCI) allow us to connect our minds to computers for some limited purposes, and big tech companies including Facebook and many startups want to make this technology commonplace. The AI and ML deployments are well underway, but for CXOs the biggest issue will be managing these initiatives, and figuring out where the data science team fits in and what algorithms to buy versus build. For those of you terrified by the prospect of technology recording – and broadcasting – your opinions of the boss, your secret fears, or anything else – relax. BCIs are currently not sophisticated enough to collect such granular information.

Leverage AI to Create Autonomous Policies that Adapts without Human Intervention

#artificialintelligence

Policies are the foundation for any successful organization. Policies are the rules, or laws, of an organization. Heck, one could argue that an organization's culture is better defined by its policies than it is by the character of its leadership team. Unfortunately, the management, creation and execution of policies haven't changed much since the days of "time-and-motion studies". In many cases, policies are nothing more than a static list of what-if rules that govern what workers are to do in well-defined situations.

Here's What's Next At The Explosive Intersection Of AI And On-Line Education

#artificialintelligence

Artificial Intelligence is poised to disrupt many industries, but education arena has not typically been at the forefront of such conversations. If it has been included at all, the narrative has been in a more abstract manner than actual application. And even though several companies such as Carnegie Learning and Content Technologies, Inc have taken either more adult learning approaches or those that are deeply rooted in tech, the space is still anyone's game with new trends to be developed for Gen Z. The industry is an important one not only for its ability to generate an entirely new level of learning but also because of the very real business opportunity in the space. Indeed, the artificial intelligence in education size is forecasted at a market size worth $6 billion dollars by 2024.

Patents: Can Inventions by AI be Patented?

#artificialintelligence

Can patents be issued for technology or algorithms derived by artificial intelligence? That's a problem that lawyers and researchers are now grappling with. Law firm Baker McKenzie predicts that "patentability of AI-created inventions, liability for infringement by AI, and patent subject-matter eligibility of AI technologies are the top three areas of patent law that will be disrupted by AI." Kay Firth-Butterfield, Head of AI and ML at the World Economic Forum Center, said that "we are about to witness a collision between artificial intelligence and various aspects of patent law. This technology is going to change the game for many sectors, and will impact numerous regulations and legal fields." Currently patents are awarded to individuals.

The threat of AI-powered cyberattacks looms large

#artificialintelligence

With damage related to cybercrime projected to hit $6 trillion annually by 2021, enterprises are putting more emphasis than ever on securing their digital and organizational assets. While rudimentary machine learning has played a role in cyber threats for some years, today there's talk of the looming threat of malicious AI: AI-powered cyber-attacks capable of causing massive damage worldwide without the involvement of human operators. To better understand the threats and opportunities presented by AI in the cyber security space, we went to the AI Summit San Francisco to catch up with Justin Fier, director of cyber intelligence and analytics at Darktrace – the company putting AI to work on cyber defense. Justin's background is in the US intelligence community, and today works with Darktrace's global customers on threat analysis, defensive cyber operations, IoT security, and machine learning. What are the key takeaways from your AI Summit keynote?
