Techfest - Wikipedia
Techfest is the annual science and technology festival of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.[1] It also refers to the independent body of students who organize this event along with many other social initiatives and outreach programs around the year. Techfest is known for hosting a variety of events that include competitions, exhibitions, lectures as well as workshops. Started in 1998 with the aim of providing a platform for the Indian student community to develop and showcase their technical prowess, it has now grown into Asia's Largest Science and Technology Festival[2] with a footfall of 1.75 lakhs in its latest edition.[3][4][5] The activities culminate in a grand three-day event in the campus of IIT Bombay which attracts people from all over the World, including students, academia, corporates and the general public.[6] The very first edition of Techfest was in 1998. The underlying spirit of Techfest was "to promote technology and scientific thinking and innovation" a motto that has been followed by every Techfest since. Techfest '98 also set the broad outlines of Techfest in the form of competitions, lectures, workshops, and exhibitions which went on to become a standard feature at every Techfest. Entrepreneurship also made an appearance in the 1999 and 2000 editions. Technoholix--Techfest in the Dark, showcasing technological entertainment at the end of each day as well as the hub of on the spot activities, made their debut during these years. Techfest 2001-2002 saw the incorporation of IIT Bombay's department oriented events like Yantriki, Chemsplash and Last Straw. Students from G H Raisoni College of Engineering got the Engineering Excellence Award for best design.

AI is a powerful paradigm that cannot be ignored; it will reshape industries and enterprises around the globe. McKinsey estimates that "the adaptation of currently demonstrated automation technologies could affect 50 percent of the world economy, or 1.2 billion employees and $14.6 trillion in wages โ China, India, Japan, and the United States--account for just over half of these totals." This promise is compelling, the ability to automate higher order work functions with a digital rather than human workforce is a disruptive force, and tho there are pros and cons, the reduction in costs and increase in efficiency, consistency and transparency is attractive. At Smartlogic, we think the'A' in'AI' would be more representative of today's machines if it stood for'Assisted' (rather than'Artificial') but we don't get to choose the words, so we will use the term AI. Assisted is more appropriate as it suggests a collaborative interplay between humans and machines (which are of course themselves a combination of various bits of hardware, software and networks).
BrainChip Awarded New Patent for Artificial Intelligence Dynamic Neural Network
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BrainChip, a leading provider of ultra-low power, high performance edge AI technology, has been awarded a new patent for dynamic neural function libraries, a key component of its AI processing chip AkidaTM. During a learning process, values are generated and stored in the synaptic registers of the AI device to generate a training model. Training models are themselves stored in the dynamic neural function library of the AI device, and the function library can then be used to train another device. The innovation was credited to Peter Van der Made, BrainChip founder and CTO, who has been at the forefront of computer innovation for 40 years. Combination of Artificial Intelligence and Radiologists More Accurately Identified Breast Cancer
An artificial intelligence (AI) tool--trained on roughly a million screening mammography images--identified breast cancer with approximately 90 percent accuracy when combined with analysis by radiologists, a new study finds. Led by researchers from NYU School of Medicine and the NYU Center for Data Science, the study examined the ability of a type of AI, a machine learning computer program, to add value to the diagnoses reached by a group of 14 radiologists as they reviewed 720 mammogram images. "Our study found that AI identified cancer-related patterns in the data that radiologists could not, and vice versa," says senior study author Krzysztof J. Geras, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at NYU Langone. "AI detected pixel-level changes in tissue invisible to the human eye, while humans used forms of reasoning not available to AI," adds Dr. Geras, also an affiliated faculty member at the NYU Center for Data Science. "The ultimate goal of our work is to augment, not replace, human radiologists."
