The field of construction is well placed to benefit from the advent of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). As part of the BIM 360 Project IQ Team at Autodesk, I've had the privilege to participate in Autodesk's foray into machine learning for construction. This article summarizes developments in this space, and covers some ways in which one can prepare to maximize value from this technology, including a broad survey of some of the applications of AI and machine learning in construction, and the potential impact. These processes are making changes across various areas, including risk management, schedule management, subcontractor management, construction site environment monitoring, and safety, to name a few. The public perception of artificial intelligence usually ranges between the two extremes of having it rule the world to it being dismissed as fantasy with no place in a serious conversation.

Alien Cathouse is offering AI sex robots alongside its human'Cosmic Kittens' for customers whose preferences may be too'dangerous for the girls'. Using a kirroo kit, clients from different states and countries can now spend time with the bordello workers in a virtual world. Alien Cathouse is a Sci-Fi themed legal brothel located near Area 51 in Amargosa Valley that is now taking advantage of the lasted technology to bring in more clientele. The location's owner Rob Thompson told Daily Star Online, 'The Courtesans are actually excited about the additional revenue stream to Alien Cathouse, and themselves …as well as the additional opportunities that might present themselves for interested parties wanting to party with a real flesh and blood courtesan and with an AI sex robot at the same time.'

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon (NasdaqGS:AMZN), has announced the opening of an infrastructure region in Spain featuring three Availability Zones at launch. It will give Spanish startups, enterprises, and the public sector the ability to "leverage advanced technologies including analytics, artificial Intelligence, database, Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, mobile services, serverless, and more to drive innovation". "Cloud computing is already powering innovation within businesses, educational institutions, public administrations, and government agencies across Spain, and with this AWS infrastructure region, we look forward to helping accelerate this transformation. Opening an AWS Region in Spain will drive more technology jobs and businesses, boosting the local economy, while enabling organizations across all industries to lower costs, increase security, and improve agility. We're excited to have AWS contribute to the future growth of Spain."

The automation movement has been changing how we shop, work, and live our day-to-day lives, from self-checkout lanes to new phone apps. AI and automation also affect our hiring practices. In the human capital management world, AI/automation has become the topic du jour of many conferences and a variety of newspaper articles. Some recent Washington Post articles about the use of AI in hiring have caught the attention of many in the HR world, who may not be aware of how automated hiring practices are being implemented in organizations. The first article is about assessing nanny personality and fitness for hire based on social media posts and the second is a post about AI-based video interviewing tools that uses facial scanning technology to make determinations about a candidate's fitness to be hired.

With a couple of notable exceptions (like big data processing using artificial intelligence algorithms), increases in computing power and improvements in storage technology have not necessarily meant that humans could work any faster or harder. But instead that technology is now able to shorten time-to-value for new apps and services, and managing that provision's infrastructure has got easier. In data centers, software-defined structures like convergence, hyperconvergence, and service abstractions are becoming more prevalent and mainstream. Perhaps the earliest example of software abstraction was the virtual server. Virtual machines now predominate in local, remote cloud and edge data centers/microcenters, and their presence has led to an uptick in utilization metrics.

Artificial intelligence was once the dream of science fiction writers – the most famous ones. In today's day, AI research is constant and continues to grow day by day. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a hand in everything from what we see on a Facebook-like social media platform to actually determining what the best treatment will be during a hospital stay. Over the last five years AI research has grown exponentially by 19.9% annually worldwide, according to technology writers and researchers. Smarter or High-end technologies in our factories and workplaces and connected machines that will interact, visualise the entire production chain and in fact – make great decisions autonomously is just a couple of the methods that the Industrial AI Revolution in 2019-25 will cause advancements in business. Within the next six to seven years (by the year 2025), China is predicted to become the biggest global source of artificial intelligence (AI), taking over the United States' (US) second lead in 2004 -- and it is quickly closing in on Europe's number 1 spot.

Major IT Tech Company, Tech Mahindra, has set up its first development center in Timisoara, Romania. The development center will leverage 5G technology for network transformation for their Europe based clients, says the announcement. Tech Mahindra has 100 members team at the development center. The team manages different core, transmission network, and Radio Access Network operations. Tech Mahindra, in the announcement, also noted that the company plans to use Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning (AI/ML) technologies to further automate ad transform network operations.

If you shop online or occasionally speak to a voice assistant in the morning, you are already embracing the changes this technology has created. Many people are familiar with the advances of autonomous vehicles or facial recognition technology, and some may be curious, or even anxious, about how they will affect safety or privacy. Make no mistake, AI is a transformative technology that is influencing our daily lives and will touch every sector of the global economy. Whether society and government enable or inhibit the AI race, and the extent to which they do so, will be a critical question of the next decade. Regardless of the answer, the technology will forge ahead.
