Overcoming Fintech Hurdles - Mortgage Media
I think the biggest problem today is with data. So, in the mortgage industry, you have a lot of people checking the checker, checking the checker, checking the checker. It starts from the application process all the way through. And there's multiple gateways and checkpoints that is basically checking the work that was done before. If we could eliminate that and we could have validated data and services up front that is taken all the way through and integrated and communicated with all the players in the ecosystem, it would remove huge amounts of redundancies and dependencies that we currently have. So I think the, other pieces that come in, whether it's AIML or blockchain or robotic process automation, it's in improving the fulfillment process and cost reduction.
Turning AI Chatbots Into Digital Humans
The term "uncanny valley" refers to that unsettling feeling you get when looking at an android that has been made to appear human. Of course, the problem goes away when we can make robots that are indistinguishable from humans. A paper published last week by New Yawk University claims that "bots are more efficient than humans at certain human-machine interactions, but only if they are allowed to hide their non-human nature." In other words, once we're past that whole uncanny valley problem, we're better served letting people think they're interacting with a human when in fact it's just artificial intelligence perfected. This raises a very important question.
Gartner Top Strategic Predictions for 2020 and Beyond
In Japan, one restaurant is exploring artificial intelligence (AI) robotics technology to enable paralyzed employees to remotely pilot robotic waiters. JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft and Ford are hosting virtual career fairs tailored to the needs of neurodiverse candidates. Enterprise Rent-A-Car integrated braille-reader technology into its reservations system for blind employees. Using AI to increase accessibility at work is one of the Gartner Top 10 strategic predictions for 2020 and beyond. The predictions examine how technology is changing the definition of what it means to be human, and IT leaders must be prepared to adapt in a changing environment.

STMicroelectronics and maxon Collaborate on Precision Motor Control for Robotics and Automation
Geneva and Sachseln, Switzerland, November 25, 2019 โ STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, is working with maxon, a leading precision-motor provider and a member of the ST Partner Program, to accelerate the design of robotics applications and industrial servo drives. The companies will demonstrate a jointly developed servo control kit at sps 2019 trade show in Nuremberg, November 26-28 (Booth 10.1/138). The EVALKIT-ROBOT-1 is a plug-and-play solution aimed to help users easily approach the world of precise positioning and high-end motion in servo drives and robotics. A maxon 100-Watt BLDC motor with built-on 1024-pulse incremental encoder is included in the kit, embodying the company's expertise in magnetic design in motors that ensures smoothness and balance to allow fine control even at low rotor speeds. The servo control board supplied with the kit contains ST's STSPIN32F0A intelligent 3-phase motor controller and a complete inverter stage built with ST power transistors ready to connect to the motor.

Hunter Muller Predicts: Fully Leveraging the Potential of AI Will Pose Unique Challenges for the Modern Enterprise
In her remarkable book, Weapons of Math Destruction: How Big Data Increases Inequality and Threatens Democracy, former Wall Street quant Cathy O'Neil paints an incredibly sobering picture of organizations using advanced analytics to make critical decisions without fully considering the consequences. Unquestionably, AI will become an indispensable tool for automating key processes, finding hidden patterns in large datasets and driving greater efficiencies across the modern enterprise in thousands of ways. From my perspective as a technology leader, I am confident that AI will emerge as a force for good, delivering amazing opportunities and benefits to billions of people in markets all over the world. That said, the road to AI adoption will not be smooth. There are issues that cannot be glossed over or swept under the carpet in our zeal to move forward and gain competitive advantages.
Prioritizing STEM and coding won't fill one of the biggest gaps in education
Like a lot of working parents, when I'm walking my daughters to school or listening to them recount their days at the dinner table, one question is often on my mind: What should I be doing to prepare them for the world they'll enter as adults? When my daughters and their peers enter the workforce in 10 years, the global economy will be even more competitive, automated and technology-driven than it is today. Computing will be faster and cheaper. Artificial intelligence will be even more powerful, complemented by sensors everywhere in our environments--making it impossible to distinguish between "online" and "offline." Our greatest challenges, from climate change to economic inequality to privacy, will be even more acute.
Seattle Seahawks Select AWS as Its Cloud, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence Provider
In addition to moving the vast majority of its infrastructure to AWS, the National Football League (NFL) team will use the breadth and depth of AWS's services, including compute, storage, database, analytics, and ML to drive deep analysis of game footage to inform game strategy, improve operational efficiencies, and accelerate decision-making to advance team performance game-to-game. The Seahawks will combine the weekly NFL Next Gen Stats player tracking data, which tracks the position of the ball and every player 10 times per second, with its own player and club data to develop custom analytics and proprietary statistics. The Seattle Seahawks are relying on AWS's unmatched portfolio of services to discover actionable outcomes from its vast amount of player, team, and business data, enabling them to continue to compete at a championship caliber level. The Seahawks are building a data lake on Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) that will combine team stats and NFL data, such as Next Gen Stats player tracking, player health and wellness data, and scouting information to provide deeper visibility into player capabilities, as well as give the coaching staff a single, real-time view of player and team performance. By applying AWS analytics services to the data, the Seahawks will be able to quickly uncover insights to better evaluate talent and develop game plans that take advantage of the team's strengths.
