Understanding Decision Trees In Machine Learning and How To Implement It In Python Using sklearn
Decision Trees are a type of supervised learning used for classification (yes/no) and regression (continuous data) where the data is continuously split according to a certain parameter. The predicted class is derived from features of the data. The following article creates a Decision Tree from the 311 on 3.11 Project. In this project, the resolution outcome being positive or negative is what is being predicted. Agency: NYPD, Dept of Transportation, Dept of Health & Mental Hygiene, Dept of Sanitation, Dept of Housing Preservation and Development, Dept of Parks and Recreation, etc Borough: Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island Location: Longitude/Latitude, Cross Streets, Intersections Created/Closed Date Complaint Type: Heat/Hot Water, Rodent, Noise, Street Condition, Illegal Parking, Unsanitary Condition, Blocked Driveway are just a few examples.
2019 Worldcom Confidence Index Gleans Insight from More than 58,000 Business Leaders Worldwide - RH Strategic
Over the past year, business leaders worldwide have been sensing that confidence is low โ but where's the data to support that? The 2019 Worldcom Confidence Index fills that void with hard data gathered using a revolutionary methodology powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Last year, we predicted that AI would be the big issue of 2019, and we were right. The 2019 Worldcom Confidence Index is just one example of how AI has fundamentally altered our operating concept across a range of industries โ from healthcare to manufacturing and now to survey methodology. This forward-thinking approach to gathering and analyzing data is emblematic of the work Worldcom Public Relations Group does and is one of the reasons we're proud to be a member of this global PR network.
Artificial Intelligence Market Size & Share
The global artificial intelligence (AI) market size was valued at USD 20.67 Billion in 2018 is projected to reach USD 202.57 Artificial intelligence is the result of a perfect blend of several technologies leading to the creation of intelligent hardware or software, capable of replicating human behaviors, namely learning and problem-solving. The version of artificial intelligence technology available at present allows machines to complete various human tasks, such as driving automobiles and reacting to their environment, providing virtual assistance, and even playing games. Forms of AI in use today include digital assistants, chatbots and machine learning, among others. AI will facilitate more seamless integration of supply chain data, enabling anticipatory production and efficient delivery of products to customers.
Capgemini: Smart factories could add $2.2trn to global economy
From artificial intelligence (AI) to the Internet of Things (IoT), the technological developments driving Industry 4.0 have dramatic implications for the future of manufacturing. A new report released today by the Capgemini Research Institute found that smart factories have the potential to add anywhere between $1.5trn and $2.2trn to the global economy in the next five years. Of the companies surveyed, the report found that 68% were currently undergoing smart factory initiatives, compared to 43% in 2017. However, the report makes clear that two-thirds of the gains, which would be realised through increased productivity, improvements in quality and market share, along with customer service refinement, remain unrealised. Before we dive any deeper into the obstacles facing smart factory operators, let's establish exactly what makes a factory smart.
AI Screening for Diabetic Retinopathy Moves to Retail Clinics
Retail health clinics have been part of the trend in making healthcare more convenient, and now another option is being offered -- testing for diabetic retinopathy. However, an ophthalmologist won't make the diagnosis at the clinic; instead, it will be made by an artificial intelligence (AI) system called IDx-DR. Testing will be offered through CarePortMD, the first retail health clinic to adopt this type of AI diagnostic technology, and offered at clinics inside Albertsons grocery stores. The second largest grocery chain in the United States, Albertsons added five CarePortMD clinics to stores in Delaware and Pennsylvania this past year. "Ours is a hybrid model of telehealth plus the convenience and access of a retail clinic, with the scalability and opportunity to coordinate with telemedicine." said Ashok Subramanian, MD, the CEO of CarePortMD.
New Technology Just Made Solar Energy Cheaper Than Fossil Fuel
New invention hailed as the "Holy Grail" of solar energy and "game changer" for the planet A Bill Gates-backed startup just announced a technological breakthrough in solar energy that could finally put fossil fuel to rest. The clean energy company Heliogen has developed a solar oven that reach temperatures a quarter as hot as the surface of the sun. That means solar energy just became powerful enough to fuel industrial processes it couldn't touch before. Until now, the extreme heat required to make cement, steel, glass and other industrial materials could not be generated efficiently by solar. But now, the scientists at Heliogen have figured out how to create a 1000-degree-celcius solar oven with a field of mirrors all aimed at a single point.
Grimes: Humanity is at the "end of art, human art"
Last week, indie pop singer-songwriter Grimes made an appearance on astrophysicist Sean Carroll's Mindscape podcast. During the segment, the pop singer, who studied neuroscience before pursuing her music career, opined that humanity is at the "end of art, human art" -- AI, in Grimes' mind, will soon master the arts and sciences, surpassing humans in the ability to produce superior works. Grimes' comments touched a nerve in the indie music community. In a since-deleted tweet, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Zola Jesus called Grimes' comments the "voice of silicon fascist privilege," likely alluding to Grimes relationship with Elon Musk. Yesterday, a third voice weighed in on the debate -- Holly Herndon, an award-winning composer and electronic musician whose most recent album, PROTO, was made in collaboration with an AI.

FedEx lets delivery robot 'Roxo' loose in NYC for the first time, but is 'sent packing' by the mayor
New Yorkers got their first glimpse of FedEx's delivery robot last week, when a prototype named'Roxo' was given a day out in Manhattan. But far from being welcomed by residents, the six-wheeled droid was promptly presented with a cease-and-desist order by the city. A long-standing ambition for many tech firms, delivery robots is finally getting close to becoming a reality. FedEx has trialled the bots in several U.S. cities including Memphis, Manchester and New Hampshire, before bringing one to New York City. Although the robot's trip out in New York was just a marketing stunt, rather than an actual trial, it has already attracted feedback from some residents - namely mayor Bill de Blasio.
