3 Ways to Discover AI Trends in Any Sector Emerj

#artificialintelligence

Daniel Faggella is the founder and CEO at Emerj. Called upon by the United Nations, World Bank, INTERPOL, and many global enterprises, Daniel is a sought-after expert on the competitive strategy implications of AI for business and government leaders. Business leaders, managers, and consultants with an eye on AI aren't just trying to learn what AI can do, they're trying to discover ways to gain an AI advantage. For this reason, discovering AI trends can be particularly important. Most of the work that we do with our AI Capability Map services is about finding trends in quantitative data โ€“ which requires hundreds of hours of expert research, and established frameworks for interpreting and categorizing data for insight.

CIMON, the AI-powered robot, launches a new era in space travel

#artificialintelligence

Outer space is unfriendly to humans. We can only exist in a contained environment with its own air supply, so that means working in very close quarters. Zero gravity means things don't stay where you put them. Despite these constraints, astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) must be highly productive on a very tight time schedule. They conduct hundreds of experiments they've memorized and trained for on the ground, but now in zero-gravity.

How Confucianism Could Put Fears About Artificial Intelligence to Bed OZY

When Arnold Schwarzenegger said "I'll be back" in The Terminator, he probably didn't realize the film would keep coming back in discussions about robots and artificial intelligence. Yet 35 years after Schwarzenegger portrayed a cyborg assassin from an AI-dominated future, much of Western discourse on robots is repeating a Terminator-like scenario: panic that robots will take our jobs, and that AI will take over the world, Skynet-style. Western culture has had a long history of individualism, warlike use of technology, Christian apocalyptic thinking and a strong binary between body and soul. These elements might explain the West's obsession with the technological apocalypse and its opposite: techno-utopianism. In Asia, it's now common to explain China's dramatic rise as a leader in AI and robotics as a consequence of state support from the world's largest economy.

Preparing Your Business For The Artificial Intelligence Revolution 7wData

Today when asked about artificial intelligence (AI), many people start painting science fiction inspired images of machine-ruled futures and robots completing manual tasks for human beings. To them, AI is only a concept, something that's going to happen tomorrow. In reality, artificial intelligence is already part of our lives. We use AI every day. For the last few years, AI has entered the consciousness of every industry.

Emirates deploys Artificial Intelligence solutions in new aircrafts

#artificialintelligence

Emirates Airlines yesterday said it is leveraging new technologies to bring more comfort in the air transportation business. Senior Manager, Base Operations of the company, Mr Christopher Welham, who took journalist on tour of the airlines engineering section in Dubai yesterday, said because the future is technology, Emirates is trying to deploy Artificial Intelligence-based technologies not only to maintain its leadership in the aviation business, but to provide additional comfort to its passengers. Welham said: we have partnerships with the engine manufacturers such as GE, RollsRoyce and engine alliance, and they are for prognostic solutions. So, an aircraft while in flight is constantly sending down data of the engine and we are trying to predict a failure before it happens. And at the moment, I would say we are at about 90% maturity, and that's because some of the manufacturers of some of the components, still aren't able to provide enough data, but we are getting better". He added: "However, we've now managed internally, things like; if an aircraft is ready for departure, we are able to monitor the temperature in the cabin, so in the summer, we control it because we don't want passengers to get unto a hot cabin.

New AI-driven technology for breast cancer screening

#artificialintelligence

This included the technology ProFound AI for Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT), which is said to be the first artificial intelligence software for DBT to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Also on offer at the event were medical software solutions designed for 2D mammography and to assess breast density. During the meeting, the iCAD unveiled its vision for future technologies. This predictive aspect included technologies that should enable clinicians to more easily interpret patients' earlier images and prospective breast cancer risk assessment to form a clearer picture of the specific patient's condition. Clinical data from a large reader study involving ProFound AI for DBT were recently published in the journal Radiology: Artificial Intelligence ("Improving Accuracy and Efficiency with Concurrent Use of Artificial Intelligence for Digital Breast Tomosynthesis").

This Year's AI (Artificial Intelligence) Breakthroughs

#artificialintelligence

When it comes to AI (Artificial Intelligence), VCs (venture capitalists) continue to be aggressive with their fundings. During the third quarter, 965 AI-related companies in the US raised a total of $13.5 billion. In fact, this year should see a record in total fundings (last year's total came to $16.8 billion). Some of the deals have been, well, staggering. Just look at the $1 billion that Microsoft shelled out for an equity stake in OpenAI (the company is one of the few that is pursuing Strong AI). So what has been the result of all this activity? What have been the breakthroughs for AI this year?
