Technology Collaboration Transforming Legal Processes with AI Innovation - British Legal Technology Forum 2020 - Europe's Largest Legal IT Event
Three major players in the legal services market have created the first truly automated end-to-end digital solution for insurers, solicitors and counsel using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Keoghs Solicitors, St John's Buildings barristers' chambers and Advanced, the legal software specialist, have developed a digital solution using AI which enables Road Traffic Accident (RTA) personal injury cases to be litigated electronically, or identified as requiring a barrister, without the need for human intervention. The system has been in operation since late 2018 and is delivering a rapid, seamless and cost-saving service for clients. Keoghs created Lauri, the first AI litigation product, in 2017. Lauri reads unstructured data and pre-loads personal injury cases at Keoghs.

Wipro, Nasscom Collaborate To Skill Indian Students In AI, IoT
Indian multinational corporation Wipro, in collaboration with the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom), will be setting up a platform to train students in emerging technologies -- artificial intelligence (AI), data science, internet of things (IoT) and cyber securities. Wipro has decided to take up the initiative under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, TalentNext, that aims to enhance the quality of engineering education in India by training college faculties and academic leaders, who will later train students. The platform, set up by Wipro and Nasscom, will be looking to train 10K students from over 20 engineering colleges in India. With this platform, the duo wants to build a talent pool of students certified by Wipro and Nasscom and provide them with greater job opportunities. Wipro's Chairman Premji, in a press release, said that the platform will bring together content and people, alongside the focus on curation and learning at one's own pace.
China – The First Artificial Intelligence Superpower
China is on its way to becoming the first global superpower for Artificial Intelligence. The People's Republic of China has the most ambitious AI strategy of all nations and provides the most resources worldwide for its implementation. China combines a gigantic amount of data with talent, companies, research and capital to build the world's leading AI ecosystem. In 2017, the State Council of the People's Republic of China (also known as the Central People's Government) published the Artificial Intelligence Development Plan (here you can find the original document in English). This strategy is part of the even bigger national "Made in China 2025" plan and will also be linked to the new (digital) Silk Road.
Vampires, gangsters and Keanu Reeves: our games picks for 2020
From the developers of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, it sends the player out to face creatures drawn from the gnarliest Greek legends and rescue the gods. A platform game for anyone who thinks video games are too easy these days, Ori draws its play inspiration from classics such as Mario, Mega Man and Metroid, but its looks are bang up to date. Guiding a spirit through an intensely beautiful forest, you'll come up against puzzles and obstacles that challenge both your mind and your reflexes. Let's hope they're still sharp. Originally released in 1997, Final Fantasy VII is one of the most beloved and acclaimed role-playing titles of all time.
2020: Our meatless, cashless, city-less future
Happy New Year! 2019 has come and gone like Kylo Ren's reign in The Rise of Skywalker, and so it's time for my (13th!) annual prediction piece for VentureBeat. Facial recognition trials will launch in large public venues outside of China. Of course bans of the technology has already occurred, too, in cities like San Francisco and Somerville, MA. Enterprise analytics will become red hot. I predicted this space would reach a third of the value of the workflow platform space by the end of 2019.
Locating a 2,000-year-old Roman Shipwreck with Image Processing and AI
Archaeologists recently discovered a Roman shipwreck in the eastern Mediterranean. The ship and its cargo are both in good condition, despite being 2,000 years old. The wreck, named the Fiskardo after the nearby Roman Empire port of the same name, is the largest shipwreck found in the region to date. The Fiskardo is filled with amphorae -- large terracotta pots that were used in the Roman Empire for transporting goods such as wine, grain, and olive oil. CNN reported, "The survey was carried out by the Oceanus network of the University of Patras, using artificial intelligence image-processing techniques."
Ambarella Enables Artificial Intelligence on a Wide Range of Connected Cameras Using Amazon SageMaker Neo
LAS VEGAS -- Ambarella, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMBA), an artificial intelligence (AI) vision silicon company, today announced that Ambarella and Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) customers can now use Amazon SageMaker Neo to train machine learning (ML) models once and run them on any device equipped with an Ambarella CVflow -powered AI vision system on chip (SoC). Until now, developers had to manually optimize ML models for devices based on Ambarella AI vision SoCs. This step could add considerable delays and errors to the application development process. Ambarella and AWS collaborated to simplify the process by integrating the Ambarella toolchain with the Amazon SageMaker Neo cloud service. Now, developers can simply bring their trained models to Amazon SageMaker Neo and automatically optimize the model for Ambarella CVflow-powered SoCs.
Intelligent, But Artist
He nailed it in his high-school tests, and nailed it again in his university entrance examination. But, according to headlines, "he wants to be a playwright, not a scientist." Oh, how meaningful a contraposition can be! His was a wonderful achievement, but the bodies of the news stories were not dedicated to how he had been able to accomplish it, what his study techniques are or his motivations. No, they were primarily focused on what he wants and doesn't want to be.
