How Artificial Intelligence Can Help Fight Coronavirus
Imagine a typical Tuesday morning. The lot is full, with vehicles parked nose to nose. You wait in a long line, similar to what you would see at Disney on a typical weekend. When you finally get inside, you see rows upon rows of empty shelves. You maneuver your shopping cart around frenzied shoppers, only to find that Costco is out of face masks, nonperishable items, medications, hand sanitizers, and hand soaps. The fear and panic as the coronavirus (known as '2019-nCov' or'Covid-19) spreads globally.
Researchers Composed New Protein Based on Sonification Using Deep Learning
Protein is of utmost importance in the human body. It is considered as the building blocks of life. Scientists, for a long, have been studying its properties and functionalities in order to improve proteins and design completely new proteins that perform new functions and processes. Recently, an innovation came into being when researchers in the United States and Taiwan explored how to create new proteins by using machine learning to translate protein structures into musical scores, presenting an unusual way to translate physics concepts across disparate domains, noted APL Bioengineering. A deep learning model has been employed to design de novo proteins, based on the interplay of elementary building blocks via hierarchical patterns.
Study shows widely used machine learning methods don't work as claimed
Models and algorithms for analyzing complex networks are widely used in research and affect society at large through their applications in online social networks, search engines, and recommender systems. According to a new study, however, one widely used algorithmic approach for modeling these networks is fundamentally flawed, failing to capture important properties of real-world complex networks. "It's not that these techniques are giving you absolute garbage. They probably have some information in them, but not as much information as many people believe," said C. "Sesh" Seshadhri, associate professor of computer science and engineering in the Baskin School of Engineering at UC Santa Cruz. Seshadhri is first author of a paper on the new findings published March 2 in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Why Isn't Machine Learning Living up to the Hype? - InformationWeek
When chief information officers think about their organizations and where machine learning might be deployed, the process often begins with an inventory of tasks. The CIOs and department leaders identify routine, repeatable processes that humans can pass off to computers. Then the operations and IT teams set up targeted programs to make those tasks more efficient. As legendary CIO Paul Strassmann has pointed out -- not without controversy -- it's a piecemeal approach that has become standard practice in most businesses. Strassmann's career includes serving as NASA's CIO from 2001 to 2003 and serving in an equivalent role in the Pentagon before that.
What You're Buying Is Not Artificial Intelligence: How To Tell Fact From Fiction
It's getting harder and harder to tell real from the fake when it comes to products of artificial intelligence (AI). So hard, in fact, that dating apps are now boosting their numbers with profiles with fake faces, and advertisers are even using them to increase diversity in their ads. This ambiguity around AI spans wide and is, unbeknownst to many of us, creeping further into our daily lives. These are examples of AI helping to fake it in the real world. In business, the buzzword'AI' is thrown around frequently. Even people with baseline knowledge of technology often mix it up with simple automation, statistical tests and even excel formulae.
Mastering Machine Learning in Python
Machine learning is the process of using features to predict an outcome measure. Machine learning plays an important role in many industries. A few examples include using machine learning for medical diagnoses, predicting stock prices, and ad promotion optimization. Machine learning employs methods of statistics, data mining, engineering, and many other disciplines. In machine learning, we use a training set of data, in which we observe past outcome and feature measurements, to build a model for prediction.
5 Innovative Applications of Automated Machine Learning
Machine Learning is a popular expression in the innovation world at this moment, it represents a significant step forward in how PCs can learn. The requirement for Machine Learning Engineers is high in demand and this flood is due to evolving innovation and generation of huge measures of information known as Big Data. Automated Machine Learning consolidates best AI practices from top-ranked data researchers to make Data Science progressively accessible over the organization. Also, Automated Machine Learning empowers business clients to execute AI solutions easily, along these lines permitting an organization's data researchers to concentrate on progressively complex issues. As we are moving ahead into the digital era, one of the cutting-edge developments we have seen is Machine Learning.
