The goal of this project is to use traditional Computer Vision (i.e. Run Section 1 of the notebook titled Camera Calibration and Distortion correction. The code snippet here looks to load the camera_calib.p Once the calibration process is complete, compile all the cells from Section 2 through to Section 9. Finally, download the video to be processed, enter its path in the code snippet in Section 9 along with the path for the output video and run this cell. Distortion occurs when the camera maps/transforms the 3D object points to 2D image points. Since this transformation process is imperfect, the apparent shape/size/appearance of some of the objects in the image change i.e. they get distorted.

Coronavirus outbreak: China's use of Artificial Intelligence for COVID-19

#artificialintelligence

So far China is known to have more than 3200 fatal cases owing to the Covid-19 epidemic. Currently, this infection has engulfed almost the entire world. Although, this infection began at China, but it was a Canadian AI (Artificial Intelligence) start-up based at Toronto that had spotted this infection first. BlueDot is an AI-based infectious disease surveillance system. This platform searches the world 24 by 7, for any possible largescale disease, spread.

AI Ethics: DNV GL Exec on Why Women Are Key to Ethics Research

#artificialintelligence

"If you look at the key names in the global debate on AI ethics, it is in fact dominated by women who have many different types of backgrounds, not only tech backgrounds." Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the game-changer in the industry, turbocharging new use cases in transportation, law enforcement, e-commerce, retail, healthcare, and entertainment. However, the quick pace of transformation and adoption is not accompanied by concrete industry standards on AI ethics and fairness in Machine Learning algorithms. While ethics in AI have been a dominant narrative for sometime, Big Tech is still seeking ways to design a code of conduct when building ML algorithms. Some tech giants like Microsoft have laid down guidelines to responsible AI and has operationalized responsible AI at scale, others are yet to follow suit.

COVID-19, robots and us โ€“ weekly online discussion

Robohub

Silicon Valley Robotics and the CITRIS People and Robots Initiative are hosting a weekly "COVID-19, robots and us" online discussion with experts from the robotics and health community on Tuesdays at 7pm (California time โ€“ PDT). Helpful Engineering is a rapidly growing global network created to design, source and execute projects that can help people suffering from the COVID-19 crisis worldwide. The Open Source COVID-19 Medical Supplies Group is a rapidly growing Facebook group formed to evaluate, design, validate, and source the fabrication of open source emergency medical supplies around the world, given a variety of local supply conditions. Andra Keay, Managing Director of Silicon Valley Robotics and Visiting Scholar at CITRIS People and Robots Initiative will act as moderator. Beau Ambur, Outreach, Design and Technology Lead for Kickstarter will be coordinating technology for us.

Artificial intelligence for fraud detection is bound to save billions

#artificialintelligence

Fraud mitigation is one of the most sought-after artificial intelligence (AI) services because it can provide an immediate return on investment. Already, many companies are experiencing lucrative profits thanks to AI and machine learning (ML) systems that detect and prevent fraud in real-time. According to a new report, Highmark Inc.'s Financial Investigations and Provider Review (FIPR) department generated $260 million in savings that would have otherwise been lost to fraud, waste, and abuse in 2019. In the last five years, the company saved $850 million. "We know the overwhelming majority of providers do the right thing. But we also know year after year millions of health care dollars are lost to fraud, waste and abuse," said Melissa Anderson, executive vice president and chief audit and compliance officer, Highmark Health.

Google's TensorFlow is ready for quantum, but is AI ready for quantum?

#artificialintelligence

Spoiler alert: Quantum computers may not make your cats and dogs classifiers go any faster. Here's how you can still get a free Windows 10 upgrade You can still use Microsoft's free upgrade tools to install Windows 10 on an old PC running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. No product key is required, and the digital license says you're activated and ready to go. Google this week announced a new version of its TensorFlow framework for building machine learning models, a kind of mash-up between TensorFlow and Cinq, another framework developed at Google that's designed for building quantum computing algorithms. Together, they could let you build a deep learning model to run on a future quantum computer with no more than a bunch of lines of Python.

CDC is using artificial intelligence to screen for coronavirus

#artificialintelligence

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is using a health care bot to help the agency screen for coronavirus infections. The bot, developed by Microsoft and provided to the CDC for free, can assess symptoms and risk factors for people who fear they may have the new coronavirus, known as COVID-19. A Microsoft spokesperson said March 20 that the bot will initially be available on the CDC's website for people in select areas but will expand over time. The bot is meant to reduce the strain on the health care providers by reducing the amount of patients who come to facilities thinking they may have the virus. It uses artificial intelligence to allow the "CDC and other frontline organizations respond to these inquiries, freeing up doctors, nurses, administrators and other healthcare professionals to provide critical care to those who need it," according to Microsoft.

RPI targets the coronavirus with deep-learning, artificial intelligence supercomputer

#artificialintelligence

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is turning one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world against COVID-19. AiMOS, short for Artificial Intelligence Multiprocessing Optimized System, can perform eight quadrillion calculations per second and is uniquely capable of exploring new applications in artificial intelligence. RPI is offering the supercomputer to the research community--including government entities, academic universities, national labs, and private businesses--to support of new coronavirus research. To combat the devastating effects of this pandemic, we must be able to fully grasp the complexities and interconnectedness of biological systems and epidemiological data, as researchers work to develop therapeutic interventions and address gaps in our knowledge. AiMOS is the most powerful supercomputer at a private university, the third-most energy-efficient supercomputer in the world, and the 24th most-powerful in the world overall.

Alibaba offers anti-virus technology to the world

#artificialintelligence

Once again, a major Chinese technology firm is taking a lead role in helping other nations fight Covid-19. According to a report in the UK's Charged Retail, Alibaba is offering up its cloud based artificial intelligence technology to medical personnel around the world. Anti-coronavirus solutions have been put together by Alibaba Cloud's experts, Alibaba DAMO Academy scientists and researchers and technical employees from DingTalk, the report said. This includes the International Medical Expert Communication Platform, hosted on Alibaba's Cloud, which will provide free communication for medical workers across the world to directly talk with Chinese doctors who have been on the frontline of the Covid-19 battle, the report said. Using Alibaba's AI technology these conversations can be translated in real time in 11 different languages, the report said.

KT zu Guttenberg, Artificial Intelligence and You

#artificialintelligence

In 2019, former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg took on a senior leadership position in the artificial intelligence (AI) company Augustus Intelligence. Guttenberg previously urged Europe to take the lead in AI. We have alluded for quite some time to the possibility of Guttenberg leading a united Europe. His gained experience in the United States may further qualify him to lead Europe's digital transformation and more. Augustus Intelligence has recently been involved in a legal dispute with two fired managers, former sales director Marco Pacelli and consultant Ed Crump.
