Now Artificial Intelligence can compose a song on its own IAM Network

#artificialintelligence

Hyderabad: The field of Artificial Intelligence is moving forward in breakneck speed with major breakthroughs taking every passing day. Earlier this week on Wednesday, the Business Insider India website reported that a website known as Imgflip built a meme generator called'This Meme Does Not Exist', which harnesses the power of machine learning to generate new memes by using 48 most popular meme templates and creating new captions at the click of the mouse. On Thursday, OpenAI, a San Francisco-based research laboratory, unveiled Jukebox, a neural network that can create music, along with lyrics and vocals, as per a blog published on the research lab's official website. The researchers at the OpenAI lab trained multiple machine learning models that were fed with a dataset of over 1.2 million songs over made by combing through the web, which were then paired with their corresponding lyrics and metadata that includes the name of the artist, genre of the album, year of release, along with the playlist keywords linked to the song and the common moods. It then performs data augmentation by downmixing the right and left channels randomly to produce Mono audio.

Espoo trials multilingual 'smartbot' for Coronavirus advice - Cities Today - Connecting the world's urban leaders

#artificialintelligence

The City of Espoo in Finland is trialling a'smartbot' to provide information for citizens about Coronavirus (COVID-19). The city says the tool is smarter than a chatbot as it also understands free-form written language. "Questions to the smartbot do not need to be carefully formulated โ€“ if the smartbot cannot answer right away, it will soon learn," a statement explained. The application collects information from City of Espoo websites and other official online sources to answer the questions and will adapt responses accordingly as resources are updated. Citizens can interact anonymously and IP addresses are not stored.

How can you capture the knowledge of a seasoned crop manager in algorithms? Many professionals in the horticulture sector believe this is impossible. Growing crops in a greenhouse requires "green fingers" that are not replaceable by algorithms. However, the expertise for growing crops is decreasing while the need for fresh food is increasing. Could algorithms feed the world?

Health care of tomorrow, today: How artificial intelligence is fighting the current, and future, COVID-19 pandemic

#artificialintelligence

SARS-COV-2 has upended modern health care, leaving health systems struggling to cope. Addressing a fast-moving and uncontrolled disease requires an equally efficient method of discovery, development and administration. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning driven health care solutions provide such an answer. AI-enabled health care is not "the medicine of the future," nor does it mean robot doctors rolling room to room in hospitals treating patients. Instead of a hospital from some future Jetsons-like fantasy, AI is poised to make impactful and urgent contributions to the current health care ecosystem.

The Pentagon Will Use AI to Predict Panic Buying, COVID-19 Hotspots

#artificialintelligence

The coronavirus pandemic has revealed that "just-in-time" supply lines don't always operate as they should. Fortune 500 companies use predictive analytics to improve their ability to deal with the unexpected -- and now so do planners with U.S. Northern Command. The Joint Artificial Intelligence Center, or JAIC, has built a prototype AI tool that uses a wide variety of data streams to predict COVID-19 hotspots and related logistics and supply-chain problems. "You have to be looking a little in the future," said Nand Mulchandani, chief technical officer at the JAIC. Dubbed Salus, for the Roman goddess of health and well-being, the tool can work on a scale as wide as the entire nation but can also drill down on specific zip codes and, in some cases, individual stores, said Mulchandani.

How well can algorithms recognize your masked face?

#artificialintelligence

Facial-recognition algorithms from Los Angeles startup TrueFace are good enough that the US Air Force uses them to speed security checks at base entrances. But CEO Shaun Moore says he's facing a new question: How good is TrueFace's technology when people are wearing face masks? "It's something we don't know yet because it's not been deployed in that environment," Moore says. His engineers are testing their technology on masked faces and are hurriedly gathering images of masked faces to tune their machine-learning algorithms for pandemic times. Facial recognition has become more widespread and accurate in recent years, as an artificial intelligence technology called deep learning made computers much better at interpreting images.

NetApp working on Application-Integrated Data Management for Kubernetes - Express Computer

#artificialintelligence

NetApp the leader in cloud data services, today introduced Project Astra, a vision for a software-defined platform that is currently in development with the Kubernetes community. Project Astra will deliver the industry's most robust, easy-to-consume, enterprise-class storage and data services platform for Kubernetes that enables both application and data portability for stateful applications. Although companies everywhere are rapidly adopting Kubernetes, many organizations lack reliable data and application services, and have difficulty making application data as portable as the applicationsthemselves arein Kubernetes. Yet to meet the standards that CIOs expect, IT teams and site reliability engineers must find a way to store, govern, protect, and replicate the data for both stateless and stateful cloud-native applications with enterprise-class cloud storage and data services. Project Astra is being purpose-built for and in collaboration withKubernetes developers and operations managers to help bridge the fundamental gap that exists between the popularity of containers today, the capabilities and user experience they require, and their ability to deliver true, comprehensive portability.
