According to analyst CB Insights, Chinese AI company Bytedance is the highest-valued startup – currently private, up-and-coming company – in the world. The venture which is valued at $75 billion is running content platform Toutiao in China, which uses machine learning to tailor a newsfeed for each individual viewer out of traditional and new media sources. The second highest-valued startup according to CB Insights is also from China – ride-hailing service Didi valued at $56 billion. U.S companies now make up only 40 percent of the top 10, down from 60 percent a year ago when Juul Labs and WeWork still made the top 10. The remaining four U.S. startups, Stripe, Airbnb, Space X and Epic Games are valued at between $15 billion and $36 billion.

Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) are very successful in generating very sharp and realistic images. Covid-19 has caused an unprecedented amount of uncertainty across the world, with businesses and people alike feeling the strain. While we have passed the peak of the pandemic in the UK, we must not forget the immense strain which the NHS has been put under. It is a testament to all of those working within the service that it has remained firm, saving countless lives in the process. Moving forwards, though, we must find a way to ease the burden on NHS workers.

A bundle of classic Namco games called the Namcot collection is making its way to the Nintendo Switch. One of the titles you can get with the bundle is a NES version of Pac-Man Championship Edition, which was (as The Verge notes) originally created as a remake of Pac-Man for the Xbox 360. So technically, Namco reimagined an HD remake in NES-style graphics. Unlike the original, each level for this 2007 version of the beloved classic is played within a certain time limit. The game gets faster the longer you stay alive, and the goal is to get the highest score possible.
