NASA and IBM made an AI model for exploring the Moon
This past spring, the world experienced a rare moment of collective joy and awe when NASA's Artemis II mission, the first crewed flight to the Moon since 1972, completed its historic lunar flyby. On April 6, astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, Victor Glover and Jeremy Hansen flew farther from Earth than any humans before them. Now, as NASA prepares for the next Artemis mission and beyond, the space agency is working with IBM to give scientists new tools to study the Moon. On Thursday, the two organizations released the NASA-IBM Lunar Foundation Model. As a foundation model, it can do a few different things, says Dr. Juan Bernabé-Moreno, the director of IBM Research Europe, UK and Ireland.
Russian drone incursion delays Zelensky flight

Zelensky and his wife Olena were on the jet at Chisinau, Moldova's capital, ahead of Wednesday's funeral of Norway's King Harald V when the unmanned aircraft crossed over the Moldovan border. The drone prompted an immediate airspace shutdown and Zelensky's plane was left on the runway for around an hour before it could take off. The flight was only authorised after it was confirmed the drone had come down 160km (100 miles) away. Asked by reporters on Thursday, the Kremlin said there had been no threat to the jet. Zelensky's plane had been due to take off at around 16:30 (14:30 GMT) from Chisinau International Airport.

No one could anticipate so much uniform load responding to grid faults the same way, at the same time. The AI power debate is mostly about generation: more turbines, more solar, more transmission. The grid needs more electrons.
This road map could help us decide whether to deploy solar geoengineering
A new report from the nonprofit Reflective lays out the experiments needed to better understand our ability to dim the sun. A San Francisco nonprofit has published a detailed road map of the experiments, studies, and infrastructure that it says would be needed to make informed decisions about the use of solar geoengineering, can reveal. Scientists have now spent half a century exploring the possibility that we could counteract climate change by releasing reflective particles into the stratosphere, mimicking the cooling effects of volcanic eruptions. But even after at least hundreds of studies on the concept, known as stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI), big gaps remain in the scientific understanding of how well it would work and what else it might do--and there has been no systematic plan for clearing up that uncertainty. Reflective, a research organization that funds studies on solar geoengineering, has today attempted to fill that gap with the release of its SAI Research Roadmap . "Our mission is to equip the world with the data and tools required for informed decision-making about sunlight reflection fast enough to matter," says Dakota Gruener, the organization's cofounder and chief executive.

'Everywoman' statue unveiled in Trafalgar Square A sculpture inspired by a desire to bring a contemporary everywoman to Trafalgar Square has been unveiled on London's Fourth Plinth. Lady In Blue by New York artist Tschabalala Self, which pays homage to a young, metropolitan woman, is the 16th artwork to feature on the plinth since 1998. The bronze and blue figure replaces Mil Veces un Instante (A Thousand Times in an Instant) by Teresa Margolles. The statue has been patinated with a pigment refined from Lapis Lazuli, a semi-precious stone that has been used by artists for millennia. Self said she had set out to put an ordinary contemporary Londoner on a site more usually associated with statues of monarchs and military commanders.
