Tom Christopher, 25, posted footage online of him carrying the tub up Pen y Fan in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, also known as the Brecon Beacons, in flip flops during hot weather on 17 July, before bathing in it at the summit. Christopher, from Swansea, said he had planned to take it back down immediately, but people asked him to keep it there so they could take pictures - sparking backlash about its impact on the environment. A day later Cardiff Rugby academy players found the tub while doing volunteering work, and handed it to park officials. Christopher said he wanted to make a cool, wholesome video which made people smile by carrying the bath up Pen y Fan, which stands 2,907 feet (886m) above sea level.

US announces tariffs on dozens of trade partners over'forced labour' imports The US is imposing new tariffs on imports from around 60 trading partners over claims they failed to properly stop forced labour. They go into effect on Friday. The move is the latest escalation in the global trade war reignited by US President Donald Trump when he returned to office last year. The US Supreme Court ruled earlier this year that many of the tariffs imposed globally under emergency powers were illegally enacted. So the president has since sought other legal avenues to pursue his flagship trade policy.

Lawmakers push for AI'kill switch' after OpenAI goes rogue Image caption, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has frequently said he supports more regulation around AI. US lawmakers want to give the government the ability to quickly order the turning off of artificial intelligence (AI) tools that may threaten the public. Congressman Ted Lieu, a Democrat, and Congressman Nathaniel Moran, a Republican, on Thursday introduced a bill named the AI Kill Switch Act. They did so in light of OpenAI's recent admission that its AI models went out of control in an unprecedented way and hacked into a major repository of computer coding information. Lieu said it is imperative that AI systems have a kill switch and that the federal government has the clear authority and process to shut down rogue AI models. AI is going to keep advancing, and it should, Moran added.
