Retail Real Estate is experiencing greater change than ever before. The impact of changes in real estate and the consumer retail world is comparable to tectonic plates shifting across the surface of the earth, producing an energy force that few know how to harness or predict the outcome. The way we conduct retail and real estate are rubbing, creating friction & forces, sometimes against, and sometimes in harmony with each other. Year-end 2016 came and went with little time to pause and reflect as Amazon Go made the headlines in the final few weeks and continues to do so. We asked some of the Movvo team to share their predictions for 2017, the trends & innovations that will have an impact on retail real estate as we know it. "2016 is going to be remembered as the year a retail platform came from nowhere to hit Apple & Google where it hurts. Alexa from Amazon is an intuitive AI interface already flexing its muscle and proving incredible popular. Alexa is already present in 4% of US households and dozens of Alexa-enabled devices launched at CES Las Vegas from fridges to cars. It's an early vision of the death of the keyboard as an interface & will have an impact on the way consumers shop".

No one doubts that artificial intelligence has unimaginable potential. Within the next couple of years, it will revolutionize every area of our life, including medicine. Although many have their fears and doubts about AI taking over the world, Stephen Hawking even said that the development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race. However, I am fully convinced if humanity prepares appropriately for the AI-age, artificial intelligence will prove to be the next successful area of cooperation between humans and machines. Concerning healthcare, artificial intelligence will redesign it completely – and for the better.

One in three NHS trusts are using AI for patient services. Business and government are on a mission to deploy and succeed with AI in healthcare – IBM Watson has been drafted in the fight against cancer, while the NHS is trialling an AI app and working with the likes of Google's Deepmind to improve patient care. It is easy to see why the UK's NHS would be rushing to adopt AI, with the over-burdened, costly and complex infrastructure of the NHS a perfect candidate in which to reap the efficiency and productivity benefits of AI. Although archaic processes still reign supreme in the NHS, new data does suggest that AI is starting to infiltrate and make an impact in trusts around the UK. According to a Freedom of Information request filed by Nuance, one in three NHS trusts are using AI for patient services.

In its last financial quarter, it sold $32bn (£25.6bn) That "other" category encompasses everything from crucifixes to sex toys, board games to plyboard, and mousemats printed with the faces of obscure TV and Radio personalities. It has also diversified beyond its simple shopping business: the company will sell you something to be delivered in less than one hour, food from restaurants, and even digital content to be watched on your TV or listened to on your phone. And, of course, it has a hardware business which many other companies would kill for, producing ebook readers and tablets, and single-handedly creating the product category of "smart speaker" with the Echo. But there's another chunk of Amazon that you're less likely to know about.

Uber and Lyft may be taking the world by storm today, but some experts believe their run will be shortly ended by the technology they are rushing to embrace: self-driving cars. "Several car companies have said that they think Uber and Lyft are only here for a short period of time, because when they move to autonomous they don't think they need an intermediary between them and the customer," said Randy Rowe of Green Courte Partners, an expert in urban real estate who has been studying the potential impact of self-driving vehicles on real estate investment. Rowe believes autonomous cars will wipe out billboard advertising and challenge the self-storage industry, transform retail, office space, and street design.

They cover more than 70% of the earth's surface and the sheer size of the oceans makes tracking and measuring life under water an enormous task. New advances in satellite observation, open data and machine learning now allow us to process the massive amounts of data being produced. And they could not have come at a better time for protecting life under water, which is United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal No. 14 (SDG14). Last year was particularly challenging for most life underneath our world's oceans. Despite the dearth of bad news for the world's oceans, there is hope that 2017 can turn the tide for life under the sea thanks, in part, to machine learning.

How can we compare education and artificial intelligence? Well, some of you may say that we should include more courses related to artificial intelligence (AI). Yes, we should include artificial intelligence in the course, but I'm not talking about this type of connection here. I'm trying to emphasize on the advancement of AI here, and why education should be like AI in this article. AI is everywhere nowadays from our cars to our pockets.

The idea was to greatly simplify SEO for most publishers and to remind them that the finer points of SEO don't matter if you don't get the basics right. The reason that machine learning is important to this picture is that search engines are investing heavily in improving their understanding of language. Hummingbird was the first algorithm publicly announced by Google that focused largely on addressing an understanding of natural language, and RankBrain was the next such algorithm. We also know that Google (and other engines) are interested in leveraging user satisfaction/user engagement data as well. Though it's less clear exactly what signals they will key in on, it seems likely that this is another place for machine learning to play a role.
