About two years ago, a significant event happened at Stack Overflow: a new system, named Providence, was released. Providence would allow us to tell which technologies a visitor is interested in, and measure the "fitness" between a visitor and a job. More generally, the release of Providence marked a stepping stone in Stack Overflow's continuous effort to be "smarter" and invest in data science. With its vision to develop next generation robotic companion for human beings, Sastra Robotics is currently engaged in the development of robotic manipulators for device test automation deployed by Robert Bosch, HCL and Audience. Growth From the three-member core team, the company has grown big and the staff strength now stands at 17. Recently, it has opened in Kochi a first-of-its-kind'Robotics R&D and testing facility' in the country. Apple to release Siri speaker that hooks up to iPhones and talks to people at WWDC
Apple is making a Siri speaker that will sit in people's houses and speak to them. The company's Siri speaker has gone into production and will work as a way of listening to music as well as getting information by talking to it, according to reports. That will put it in competition with companies like Google and Amazon, both fo which make their own speaking speakers. Apple has already brought its Siri technology to pretty much everything it makes: phones, Macs, and TVs. But it is planning to make a specific product that includes it for the first ever time. The I.F.O. is fuelled by eight electric engines, which is able to push the flying object to an estimated top speed of about 120mph.

A gold PlayStation 4 Slim will launch next week, according to new reports. A picture of the console in its purported new colour scheme has been posted online, with somebody who claims to work for Target claiming that Sony will officially unveil it on 9 June. That's just ahead of the the E3 gaming conference, which kicks off on 13 June, where Sony is expected to make some of its biggest announcements of the year. Elon Musk's idea of merging machines with humans is 'alarmist', CEO of top A.I. firm says
Talk of mass job losses and the need to give humans a computer layer in their brain as a result of artificial intelligence (AI), an idea put forward by billionaire Elon Musk, are "alarmist" and distract from the good being done by the technology, a top start-up CEO told CNBC on Thursday. Major warnings have been issued by technologists about the impact of AI on society in the next few years. For example, Alibaba founder Jack Ma said society could face decades of "pain" from the result of automation, while Musk has started a company called Neuralink to research the development of human-machine interfaces. Babak Hodjat, the CEO of Sentient Technologies, one of the world's highest-funded AI start-ups, however, said that such developments were still in the realm of science fiction and in fact are distracting companies from developing world-changing solutions. "We are nowhere near that on the technology side, and it's distracting to the fact that AI today can help the world in so many places, and the discourse is being taken over by folks that are alarmists, around something that might happen in 100 years, 150 years," Hodjat told CNBC during an interview at the Pioneers tech show in Vienna on Thursday.

Global fintech investment was essentially cut in half in 2016. With this stark shift, it might seem that fintech is taking a turn for the worse. But the reality is very different. In some markets, too much cash was chasing too few quality opportunities, driving valuations too high, and sending investors to the sidelines. But as the air is slowly released from this bubble, markets will correct, leading to lower valuations, driving more consolidations and acquisitions, and making room for more assets to move back in. And a closer look reveals there are still many markets where the potential is untapped, and many segments of the industry where there is still room to grow.
Artificial intelligence may outperform humans in all aspects by 2060: Study
Artificial intelligence systems could outperform humans in all tasks within the next 45 years, according to a new study which also suggests that all human jobs will be automated in the next 120 years. According to a survey of over 350 artificial intelligence (AI) researchers, machines are predicted to be better than us at translating languages by 2024, writing high-school essays by 2026, driving a truck by 2027, working in retail by 2031, writing a bestselling book by 2049 and surgery by 2053. However, there is only a five per cent chance that computers will bring about outcomes that may lead to human extinction, researchers said. The survey, by the University of Oxford in the UK and Yale University in the US, was conducted among 352 researchers who had presented their research at the Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems or the International Conference on Machine Learning - the two major conferences in the field of AI. "There is accumulating evidence that machines can overpower human intelligence in complex, though specific tasks," Eleni Vasilaki at the University of Sheffield in the UK, told the'New Scientist'. However, there is little evidence that AI with human-like versatility will appear any time soon, Vasilaki said. The survey results showed that researchers in Asia typically gave shorter time frames than those in North America - predicting that AI would outperform humans on all tasks within 30 years, compared with 74 years.

Centuries after this event, a robot called BlessU-2 has been revealed in Germany to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The robot is intended to trigger debate about the future of the church and the looming potential of artificial intelligence, reports The Guardian. "We wanted people to consider if it is possible to be blessed by a machine, or if a human being is needed," said Stephan Krebs of the Protestant church in Hesse and Nassau.
