In essence, the Force – meaning the wisdom, expertise and ability to know exactly what will happen next and what I should do in the moment. Of course, there is only one problem with all this--our current reality. Wilson predicted, the world will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time and think critically about it to make important choices wisely. And, that is exactly what IBM Watson is doing today.

Today, top individuals from around the world convened at the World Government Summit to discuss the agenda that should govern the next generation of governments. Yesterday, a select few of these leaders gathered in a closed-door meeting to discuss the guidelines that nations should use as they help their people come to terms with no longer being the only sentient species on the planet. Of course, this was just one of the many topics discussed. Officials also deliberated on the most immediate ways they can implement AI technologies to make our lives better, who should govern AI, and how to best navigate the perilous roads ahead. The event was organized by the AI Initiative from the Future Society at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and H.E. Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, the UAE's Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence.

Now available free on PC, Dead Space came closer than any other game to replicating the look, feel and atmosphere of Ridley Scott's sci-fi thriller Fri 16 Feb 2018 06.27 EST Last modified on Fri 16 Feb 2018 06.28 EST This week, Electronic Arts has made one of the most interesting and atmospheric narrative games of the 2000s available for free to users of its Origin gaming service. Released in 2008 and created by Californian studio Visceral Games, Dead Space remains a heady, often terrifying thrill ride and if you've never played it before, it's worth taking this chance – especially if you're a fan of the Alien movies. Although there have been numerous attempts to bring Alien directly to video games – most successfully, Creative Assembly's incredibly tense Alien: Isolation – it's Dead Space that has got closest to replicating the look, feel and atmosphere of Ridley Scott's original film. Dead Space is about a small crew travelling out into space to investigate a research ship, the USG Ishimura, with which all contact has been lost. Like Alien's vessel the Nostromo, this is a labyrinthine mining vessel, a multilayered nightmare of interconnected corridors, labs and living spaces built from metallic walls and lit by strobing neon. Like Ripley and co, the rescue team discovers the ship has been invaded by a hideous alien species, and that its shadowy corporate owner may know more about the infestation than anyone is letting on.

Healthcare organizations need predictive analytics for providing quality healthcare and population health management. Building predictive models by applying machine learning algorithms is complex in the infrastructure-as-a-service or platform-as-as-a-service environment as it involves distributed computing. The emergence of predictive analytics in the healthcare industry has offered enormous opportunity to be able to predict the events in healthcare organization and other industries as well such as aerospace industry. Predictive analytics is a subfield of data science that deploys several multi-disciplinary fields such as statistical inference, machine learning, clustering, data visualization, and machine learning iteratively through the lifecycle of the data analytics. The stages can be defined as defining the problem statement for the organization, scope of the data analytics project, collection of big data, exploratory data analysis, data preparation, deployment of predictive models leveraging machine learning algorithms.

Britain's largest auto insurer, Direct Line, has been offering Tesla owners a sweet-sounding deal for the last few months: Enable Autopilot, the semi-autonomous driver-assist system, and get five percent off your yearly insurance premium. When the insurer announced the inducement in December, Tesla owners nearly broke the internet, as they rushed to crow, assuming they too were in line for a similar financial windfall. One problem is that this discount isn't coming to America, for reasons we'll explain. But there's another surprising fact to consider: The cost of auto insurance in the driverless age might just increase, even though the number of crashes decreases. Direct Line's stated goal with this Tesla initiative is to encourage the use of the semi-autonomous (SAE Level 2/3) system in the United Kingdom.

The European Commission needs to boost investment in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity research if it wants to compete in a new technology race with the US and China. This is the view of Jürgen Rüttgers, former science and technology minister in Germany, who heads an advisory group reporting to the Commission. Their work, developed by Rüttgers with 13 other figures drawn across research, industry and finance and to be published 23 February, looks at expanding industrial research in Framework Programme 9, the EU's next research and innovation programme, set to start in 2021. In an interview, Rüttgers argues that artificial intelligence should get extra EU attention. "We are very strong in [the AI] field, and we don't always see that we are strong," he said. But the global balance of power in technology is shifting.

Artificial intelligence is the buzzword of the late 2010s. And according to a report published on The Times Law's Brief Premium website in October 2017, the UK's top law firms are enthusiastically embracing the positive changes AI is bringing to the legal world[1]. The report included a unique survey of the top of the UK legal profession, which reveals that around 40 of the biggest 100 law firms in the UK are using AI systems on active files. In addition, nearly another 30 of the top law firms are piloting systems, although not yet implementing them, for client work. The remainder of the 100 are considering a pilot.
