Paolo Papotti got his Ph.D. degree from the University of Roma Tre (Italy) in 2007 and is an assistant professor (MdC) in the Data Science department at EURECOM (France) since 2017. Before joining EURECOM, he has been a senior scientist in the data analytics group at QCRI (Qatar) and an assistant professor at Arizona State University (USA). His research focuses on data integration and cleaning and it has been recognized with awards in SIGMOD and VLDB. His work has also been patented and successfully adopted in commercial products. It's a question that was under discussion as this year's Munich Security Conference kicked off on Friday (February 16). Machine learning has helped scientists explore chemical space, find new synthetic pathways and predict reaction outcomes. However, yield prediction software still often gets things wrong. This is because the data algorithms have to work with โ reaction parameters collected by many groups over the years โ is often inconsistent and incomplete. Reactions that don't work, for example, are usually not reported.

The majority of the UK's SMEs are largely unconcerned about the prospect of artificial intelligence (AI), with the potential of improved productivity seen as a possible major benefit, according to research from Close Brothers Asset Finance. The results were obtained from the Close Brothers Business Barometer, a quarterly survey that questions over 1,000 UK and RoI SME owners and senior management across a range of sectors and regions. "The potential impact of the rise of artificial intelligence and the so-called fourth industrial revolution have been discussed and debated for some time now," said Neil Davies, CEO, Close Brothers Asset Finance. "What our survey tells is that 65% of firms feel that AI is either going to improve productivity or that it's too far in the future to be worried about. The remaining 35% are more apprehensive, citing ethical concerns and the threat to jobs as their reasons for not being advocates of AI."

We are witnessing just the beginning of the artificial intelligence (AI) era. The computer program AlphaGo defeated the world's top player in the complex Chinese board game of Go for the last time in May 2017. The program had run out of human competition. Instead, its developers designed AlphaGo Zero to simply play against itself without the aid of any historical game data. AlphaGo Zero taught itself how to beat all versions of AlphaGo in 40 days.

Tinder Update Adopts Bumble's Female-Driven Conversation Model
Tinder's new update will allow female users to take the lead in conversations with matches in a setting dubbed "women-talk-first." The dating app's new feature is optional for female users. By entering the app's settings, women will soon be able to change it so that they are required to initiate dialogue before men. Therefore, this feature would allow for women to not be on the receiving end of an assortment of messages from every person they'd ever matched with. Match Group, a company that operates Tinder alongside other dating websites, claimed the change is great for women if they don't mind the "pressure" of initiating a conversation with a new match.
