The first stage booster that launched NASA's TESS spacecraft is being reused for CRS-15. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- With the rocket's static fire successfully concluded, SpaceX appears to be on track for an early-morning launch of the company's 15th operational mission to resupply the International Space Station--CRS-15. The weather forecast currently calls for a 90 percent of favorable conditions for the instantaneous window, which opens at 5:41 a.m. EDT (09:41 GMT) on June 29, 2018, at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) in Florida. The mission, designated Commercial Resupply Services 15 (CRS-15), is expected to deliver more than 5,900 pounds (2,676 kilograms) of supplies, hardware, and research equipment to the orbiting outpost. Among its manifest, SpaceX's Dragon capsule is set to deliver an estimated 661 pounds (300 kilograms) under the auspices of the ISS' U.S. National Laboratory flight allotment.

Fortnite fans are willing to pay well over the odds for physical copies of the hugely-successful video game, with some discs selling for as much as £750 ($999) on eBay and Amazon. The popular shooter is now available as a free download on a slew of devices, including Sony PS4, Windows PC, Xbox One, iOS and Nintendo Switch. Unlike the physical copy sold in stores, the digital download is free-to-play. The physical copies include a'Save the World' mode which can be downloaded onto digital versions for £30 ($40). A limited number of physical copies of the game were released worldwide last year, and surviving discs are now selling for hundreds online.

These days any old schlub can pilot a drone without cratering it, what with good old autopilot tech, but there are drone pilots out there whose abilities push the limits of human cognition. Drone racing is a truly insane endeavor (now with its very own Drone Racing League!) with human pilots banking around corners and through obstacles at over 100 miles per hour, navigating it all through the craft's onboard camera. It takes an almost unimaginable amount of coordination--but, alas, even this highly skilled job is in danger of automation. Researchers have developed a system that allows drones to autonomously navigate an obstacle course of gates with 100 percent accuracy--that is, the robots don't crash into something and explode. Not only that, because of the clever way the researchers trained the drones, the machines can adapt if a wily human moves a gate mid-run, completing a course that looks different than when they started.

Four of the top six recruiters for AI professionals in the UK are universities, according to data released by job site Indeed. Imperial College London makes up 7.4 per cent of AI job listings on the site, followed by Amazon, who made up 4.9 per cent. Oxford, Cambridge and University College London and IBM round up the top six companies competing hard to recruit AI talent to their organisations. Shawn Bose, general manager at Indeed Prime said that the number of AI jobs being created by universities is "striking." "With AI technology still in its infancy, academic researchers are racing to discover its full potential. Just as the genesis of Silicon Valley came when the worlds of scientific research and business collided at California's Stanford University, we could be seeing a similar pattern beginning to emerge with AI in the UK."

The timing was quite fitting given a glowing, low, full moon under which the city which is also currently hosting an exhibit at the Grand Palais entitled Artists and Robots which is an impressive demonstration of art created by more than 40 artists with the assistance of robots enhanced with Artificial Intelligence. Certainly, worry abounds regarding such collaborations and more as the expanse of AI barrels ahead.

Google is working on some nifty new features for Google Maps, including a short list of your favorite places, the possibility of a'virtual positioning system' and more. Assistant is coming to Google Maps in a big way, with a ton of new shortcuts, as well as the ability for the digital assistant to text your friend when you're on your way. Google is rolling out a tool called'Your Match', which uses machine learning to determine your location and interests, serving up targeted suggestions for new businesses opening up in your area and more.

Two years ago, Sanjaya Wijeratne--a computer science PhD student at Wright State University--noticed something odd in his research. He was studying the communication of gang members on Twitter. Among the grandstanding about drugs and money, he found gang members repeatedly dropping the emoji in their tweets. Wijeratne had been working on separate research relating to word-sense disambiguation, a field of computational linguistics that looks at how words take on multiple meanings. The use of jumped out as a brand new problem.
