A computer running artificial intelligence software defeated two teams of human doctors in accurately recognizing maladies in magnetic resonance images on Saturday, in a contest that was billed as the world's first competition in neuroimaging between AI and human experts. Good versus evil is a daily battle on a variety of levels but perhaps none more so than that those tracking developments within the realm of Artificial Intelligence. The question on the minds of many business leaders is will the technology create more efficiency within industries or will machines end up usurping their very users. Many in the workforce simply want to know whether there will be massive impending job loss as a result of AI or whether such tech advancements will help them to be more productive. Mercedes Benz owner Daimler is teaming up with Bosch to launch a fleet of driverless taxis in California's Silicon Valley next year. It is part of a program to test vehicles designed for city driving in an attempt to keep up with the likes of Waymo and Uber. The world's largest maker of premium cars and biggest automotive supplier gave few details about their robo-taxi program, described as a passenger shuttle service, and did not reveal which city would host it. If you've ever taken photos after sundown, you're probably familiar with the'noise' that distorts your pictures with colored specks. It's possible to fix your images to some degree with software – but an AI developed by Nvidia, MIT and Aalto University can go much further – without ever having seen noise-free photographs. The Noise2Noise AI was trained using 50,000 pictures – as well as MRI scans and computer-generated images -that had randomized noise added to them. In their paper, the researchers show that their AI can successfully remove enough noise to make the pictures usable again, with detail and clarity that's remarkably close to the source images. The AI could likely find use in software for cleaning up noisy photos captured in low-light conditions on phones and cameras, as well as improving astronomical imagery and MRI scanning.

Spanish unions have called on 1,000 Amazon workers to strike in the middle of one of the company's most important days of the year. The workers are being asked to walk-out during Amazon Prime Day, when the site runs a series of deals. The strike is being called after what unions say is a dispute over workers' rights. Activists have also called on other Amazon workers around the world to join in the strike, and for customers not to take part in the Amazon Prime Day sales. The I.F.O. is fuelled by eight electric engines, which is able to push the flying object to an estimated top speed of about 120mph.

Artificial Intelligence and machine learning will never cease to surprise us, apparently. Each new day, there's some new announcement, covering different fields: AI can render 3D hair in real time, smell illnesses in human breath, assess infrastructure quality in Africa or help transform audio into music playing avatars. Now it can also help photographers get rid of noise in their photos.

We are big fan of cloud-based machine learning and deep learning, and AI in general. After all, you can't be a geek without imagining having a conversation with an artificially intelligent being that can answer questions and carry out your bidding! That's said, we are also seeing cloud-based machine learning and deep learning misapplied over and over again. All have easy fixes for the most part, and certainly cloud-based machine learning is here to stay. But use it wisely and appropriately.
