Tinder's 'Top Picks' feature launches worldwide
Earlier this year, Tinder began testing out a feature that serves up a list of curated profiles for users who were willing to pay a few extra bucks each month. Now, the popular dating app has announced that the feature, called'Top Picks,' is now launching worldwide. However, it's only available for paying subscribers of Tinder Gold, which costs ยฃ7.49 Tinder announced that'Top Picks' is now available worldwide. Top Picks quietly launched in the US and UK last week, after it was tested in Germany, Brazil, France, Canada, Turkey, Mexico, Sweden, Russia and the Netherlands, according to TechCrunch.
Molecules imagined using next-generation artificial intelligence validated experimentally
Tuesday, September 11th, Rockville, MD - Today, Insilico Medicine, Inc., a Rockville-based next-generation artificial intelligence company specializing in the application of deep learning for target identification, drug discovery and aging research announces the publication of a new research paper "Entangled Conditional Adversarial Autoencoder for de-novo Drug Discovery" in Molecular Pharmaceutics, the leading American Chemical Society journal covering research on the molecular mechanistic understanding of drug delivery and drug delivery systems. The authors presented an original deep neural network architecture, Entangled Conditional Adversarial Autoencoder (ECAAE), which generates molecular structures based on various properties such as activity against a specific protein, solubility, and ease of synthesis. ECAAE was used to generate a novel inhibitor of Janus Kinase 3 (JAK3), implicated in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and vitiligo. The discovered molecule was tested in vitro and demonstrated high activity and selectivity. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) proposed by Ian Goodfellow and colleagues in 2014 and commonly referred to as AI imagination, are among the most exciting areas of AI research.

Soul Machines has discussed services for the elderly with prospective clients but has not announced any partnerships on that subject to date, says chief business officer Greg Cross. Soul Machines envisions a future in which digital instructors educate students without access to quality human teachers, and in which famous deceased artists are digitally resurrected to discuss their works in museums. Robot companions for the infirm, then, are not too far a leap. Nor is the prospect of a future in which a family converses with the lively AI recreation of a person suffering from dementia, while a caregiver--robot or human--tends to their ailing body in another room. The potential for deception is already here. A few years ago, Brent Lawson, the president of 1 AM Dolls, a manufacturer of life-sized rubber sex dolls, was on the phone with a client who wanted a specific doll he'd seen on the company's website. BMW launches a personal voice assistant for its cars
At TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2018, BMW today premiered its digital personal assistant for its cars, the aptly named BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. But you won't have to say "Hey, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant" to wake it up. You can give it any name you want. The announcement comes only a few weeks after BMW also launched its integration with Amazon's Alexa, but it's worth stressing that these are complementary technologies. BMW's own assistant is all about your car, while its partnerships with Amazon and also Microsoft enables other functions that aren't directly related to your driving experience.

Because the data-driven method does not require human intervention, it can rapidly transform large amounts of video, making it a boon to movie production. It can also be used to convert black-and-white films to color and to create content for virtual reality experiences. "I think there are a lot of stories to be told," said Aayush Bansal, a Ph.D. student in CMU's Robotics Institute. Film production was his primary motivation in helping devise the method, he explained, enabling movies to be produced more quickly and cheaply. "It's a tool for the artist that gives them an initial model that they can then improve," he added.
Stena Line Trialing AI for Fuel Efficiency
Stena Line is running a pilot study of artificial intelligence (AI) technology on board one of its ferries. With technology company Hitachi, an AI-model is being developed that will help predict the most fuel-efficient way to operate a particular vessel on a specific route. If successful it will make an important contribution to Stena Line's sustainability target to reduce fuel consumption by 2.5 percent annually. The model simulates many different scenarios before suggesting the most optimal route and performance setup. With the help of AI, it considers a number of variables, such as currents, weather conditions, shallow water and speed through water, in various combinations which would be impossible to do manually.
