What AlphaGo means for Dermatology
Go is an ancient board game that was first played in China over 2000 years ago. While the rules of Go are relatively simple, strategy is extremely complex and games between experts can last days. Famously, there are more positions in a game of Go than there are atoms in the universe. Artificial Intelligence Due to this complexity, traditional methods of artificial intelligence (AI) have been unsuccessful at defeating human opponents. This is in contrast to chess, where a computer can relatively simply determine the "best" move by analyzing all possible downstream outcomes from any action.
McCann Japan introduces the world's first AI creative director
McCann Erickson Japan is upping its artificial intelligence game by creating and naming the world's first artificial intelligence (AI) creative director. Named AI-CD?, the AI bot was developed through the "Creative Genome Project", one of the first projects undertaken by McCANN MILLENNIALS, an innovative taskforce that was launched last September by members of the agency's millennial generation. AI-CD? is artificial intelligence that is able to give creative direction for commercials. To develop the A.I., the MILLENNIALS team deconstructed, analysed and tagged a wide range of TV commercials, including the winners of the All Japan Radio & Television Commercial Confederation's annual CM Festival (ACC CM Festival) awards for the past 10 years. The A.I. is designed to mine the Festival's database and creatively direct the optimal commercial for any given product or message.

SkyWatchTV News 3/29/16: Microsoft's AI is a Racist Jerk
Microsoft launched an artificial intelligence chat "bot" last week, thinking this would be a way to show off its AI programming skills. Unfortunately, within 24 hours Tay had turned from a naive young AI into a rude, anti-Semitic pro-Nazi jerk. Also: Taliban kills 76 Christians in Pakistan on Easter; LGBTQ activists upset at North Carolina; Disney, Marvel and the NFL bully Georgia; CIA-armed Syrian rebels shooting at Pentagon-armed rebels; more evidence for Planet 9; and Mexicans celebrate Easter by burning Donald Trump in effigy.
An ad agency has appointed the 'world's first artificially intelligent creative director'
Flickr/Peyri HerreraAn artificial intelligence director (not this robot, but you get the idea.) Ad agency McCann Japan has appointed an artificial intelligence creative director, AI-CD?, who will be attending McCann Worldgroup's new employee welcoming ceremony on April 1, along with 11 new college graduates. AI-CD? was actually created by the agency under its'Creative Genome Project', the first in a series of projects undertaken by the agency's'McCann Millennials taskforce'. The artificial intelligence can give creative direction on commercials because the data that forms the basis of the algorithm includes deconstructed, tagged and analysed TV shows, as well as data on the winners of the All Japan Radio & Television Commersion Confederation's CM Festival. President & CEO of McCann Japan, Yasuyuki Katagi said: "Artificial intelligence is already being used to create a wide variety of entertainment, including music, movies, and TV drama, so we're very enthusiastic about the potential of AI-CD ß for the future of ad creation. The whole company is 100 percent on board to support the development of our A.I. employee."
2016's Top Ten Tech Cars: BMW 7 Series
The BMW 7 Series is the world's first production car that can operate with no driver aboard, if only to dazzle the neighbors when it eases into your home garage. Press a button on the remote, with its palm-size LCD readout, and watch the BMW drive itself into a garage or back its way out. With its camera and ultrasonic sensors, the BMW can fit into small or stuffed garages that are too tight to allow opening the car's doors. This roboparking feature is offered only in Europe for now, but BMW is pressing U.S. regulators for approval. The car can thrill when you're behind the wheel, as I discovered on a track test at Monticello Motor Club in New York's Catskills region.
How Google's AlphaGo Beat a Go World Champion
Tonight, Lee Sedol is supported by one 33-year-old human brain and approximately 12 ounces of coffee. At its core, the game of Go, which originated in China more than 2,500 years ago, is an abstract war simulation. Players start with a completely blank board and place black and white stones, one at a time, to surround territory. Once placed, stones do not move, and they're removed only if they're "killed"--that is, surrounded completely by the opponent's stones. And so the game goes--black stone, white stone, black stone, white stone--until the board is covered in an intricate tapestry of black and white.

IBM delivers a piece of its brain-inspired supercomputer to Livermore national lab
IBM is about to deliver the foundation of a brain-inspired supercomputer to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, one of the federal government's top research institutions. The delivery is one small "blade" within a server rack with 16 chips, dubbed TrueNorth, and is modeled after the way the human brain functions. Silicon Valley is awash in optimism about artificial intelligence, largely based on the progress that deep learning neural networks are making in solving big problems. Companies from Google to Nvidia are hoping they'll provide the AI smarts for self-driving cars and other tough problems. It is within this environment that IBM has been pursuing solutions in brain-inspired supercomputers.
McCann Japan appoints world's first AI creative director - AdNews
McCann Erickson Japan is taking artificial intelligence to the next level, creating and appointing the world's first robot creative director. The robot, called AI-CD?, will be assigned as a creative director to client accounts and will provide creative direction for commercials. It will also evaluate and gain learnings from results after commercials have aired to ensure it improves for future projects. AI-CD? was developed through a new taskforce in the agency, McCann Millennials, a group of staff members born between 1980 and 2000 who apparently care not for the future of their own careers, or the possible rising of the machines à la The Matrix. The robot is able to give creative direction for commercials, drawing from a database of tagged and analysed TV commercials from the past 10 years of winners of the All Japan Radio & Television Commercial Confederation's annual CM Festival (ACC CM Festival).
