Global technology major Google, which is primarily accredited for developing the search engine and transforming mobiles into complex devices, is banking on the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to drive its future growth. Already implementing complex algorithms in its search engine, the company is now integrating these concepts and coming up with solutions which can be used and implemented in daily life like Google Maps. The company's global chief executive officer (CEO), Sundar Pichai said a solution which can track blindness in early stages so that it can be cured before it takes an acute shape is being worked upon. Traces of such machine learning techniques can be found in Google Translate which Pichai claimed, had become more powerful than it was 10 years before. Pichai said India had the potential to emerge as a technology leader in the forthcoming times, and solutions which are made for India specifically can be implemented globally as well.

The skies over the United States were a little more crowded than usual following a test by the Department of Defense that sent more than 100 drones scattering across the sky, according to a report from the BBC. A total of 103 of the miniature, unmanned flying vehicles were released from a trio of Three F/A-18 Super Hornets, a popular Navy fighter aircraft. Called Perdix drones, the flyers have a wingspan of just 12 inches and move entirely autonomously--no human control required. Footage of the devices in action from October 2016, taken from Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, was recently released by the Department of Defense. In it, the drones can be seen being released into the sky and swarming together, making use of the collective brain that controls them.

Samsung may have accidentally revealed the identity of its answer to Apple's Siri: a virtual assistant called'Bixby.' The South Korean electronics manufacturer has been largely left behind in the battle of the bots, with Microsoft's Cortana, Amazon's Alexa and the Google Assistant all offering rivals to Siri. With the much-anticipated arrival of the Galaxy S8 smartphone, Samsung is expected to launch its own virtual assistant. In a recent beta version of the Samsung Pay app, three options were offered in the menu bar: Shopping, Mini and Bixby. The options, first spotted by unofficial Samsung blog SamMobile, have since been removed, but suggest the company is planning to integrate the digital assistant into its mobile payments platform.

However, the technology is still in its infancy. What many companies are calling A.I. today, aren't necessarily so.

While the use of robots is expected to create 5 million work places by 2030, the artificial intellect will replace 7.4 million people in traditional branches, leaving 2.4 million Japan citizens without jobs, the NHK television channel reported. According to scientists, the industrial branch will incur the largest loss with 1.5 million people expected to be replaced with robots. The artificial intellect will replace 720,000 people in accounting and 670,000 in construction. At the same time, scientists have an optimistic view of the situation: they hope that introducing more robots into workforce could address the problem of Japan's shrinking population. Japan is home to approximately 127 million people.
