Fukushima News: 'Unimaginable' Nuclear Reactor Radiation So Destructive, Not Even Robots Can Survive
Radiation inside Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant reached such astronomical levels Thursday that not even a robot could survive inside. A remote controlled cleaning machine sent into the incapacitated plant had to be pulled out after it ceased to function due to high levels of radiation. It was the first time a robot had entered the No. 2 reactor since the plant's meltdown in 2011. Radiation reached "unimaginable" levels recently, experts told The Japan Times. The previous high was measured at 73 sieverts per hour, one year after the disaster.

When AI first reached the ears of the legal market some years ago there was a flurry of stories about the end of lawyers. For years afterward and with Pavlov dogs-like automation any mention of legal AI summoned up the panicked refrain: 'The end of lawyers is coming, the end of lawyers is coming!' Babak Hodjat believes humans are too emotional for the stock market. So he's started one of the first hedge funds run completely by artificial intelligence. "Humans have bias and sensitivities, conscious and unconscious," says Hodjat, a computer scientist who helped lay the groundwork for Apple's Siri. "It's well documented we humans make mistakes. For me, it's scarier to be relying on those human-based intuitions and justifications than relying on purely what the data and statistics are telling you."

However, the U.S. intelligence community has undergone a renaissance in collection and analysis driven by massive improvements in surveillance technology, computing, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence. Other intelligence tools have also made big leaps forward, such as forensic intelligence collected from cellphones, pocket litter, and improvised explosive devices collected on the battlefield. Human intelligence still plays an important role, but not to the degree it did right after 9/11.
Sky logging how many times internet customers share pirated content
The UK's biggest internet service providers (ISPs) recently started sending "educational messages" to customers recorded using their web connection to share pirated content. One such alert sent to an anonymous customer by Sky has been published by TorrentFreak, and it reveals a few more details about how the Get It Right from a Genuine Site campaign works. As bee populations dwindle, robot bees may pick up some of their pollination slack
One day, gardeners might not just hear the buzz of bees among their flowers, but the whirr of robots, too. Scientists in Japan say they've managed to turn an unassuming drone into a remote-controlled pollinator by attaching horsehairs coated with a special, sticky gel to its underbelly. The system, described in the journal Chem, is nowhere near ready to be sent to agricultural fields, but it could help pave the way to developing automated pollination techniques at a time when bee colonies are suffering precipitous declines. In flowering plants, sex often involves a threesome. Flowers looking to get the pollen from their male parts into another bloom's female parts need an envoy to carry it from one to the other.

The best research to date indicates that 47 percent of all U.S. jobs are likely to be replaced by technology over the next 10 to 15 years, more than 80 million in all, according to the Bank of England.
Chinese Company Sees Defects Decline by 80% After Replacing Human Workers With Robots
Recent developments in the world of technology and artificial intelligence will lead to more robots being deployed in the job industry over time. Particularly more mundane jobs, such as manufacturing-oriented tasks will be replaced by robots soon or later. One Chinese factory tried a new approach by replacing nine in ten human employees with robots, which resulted in a 250% production increase. It has to be said, a lot of people are concerned about losing their jobs to robots and artificial intelligence in the coming years. Some industries will be affected harder by this change, especially where manufacturing and mundane jobs are concerned.

In the battle for the 21st century workplace, computers are winning. A January 2017 report from the McKinsey Global Institute estimated that roughly half of today's work activities could be automated by 2055, give or take 20 years. Bottom line is robots want our jobs. And no one is going to build a wall around them or tariff them out of existence. In a way this is nothing new.
