Siemens Power Generation Services and CT have developed a system that continuously optimizes the operation and control of combustion in gas turbines. Based on AI from CT, the system, which is known as a Gas Turbine Autonomous Control Optimizer (GT-ACO), is currently being installed at a top customer in Asia.

He said Monday that he hopes Dubai will have autonomous taxi drones zipping around its skyline this summer. Actual drones that people can sit inside without fearing for their lives.

Flying, driverless cars are expected to become a reality in Dubai by the summer after an initial test run of an autonomous aerial vehicle was launched Monday by the Roads and Transport Authority and Chinese firm Ehang. The vehicle โ called Ehang 184 โ should be able to transport people automatically and is scheduled to start services in the near future. "The autonomous aerial vehicle exhibited at the [World Government Summit] is not just a model; it is a real version that we have already experimented the vehicle in a flight in Dubai sky. The RTA is making every effort to start the operation of the AAV in July 2017," Al Tayer, the chairman and director general of the Roads and Transport Authority, said. The car will be able to hold someone up to 220 pounds along with a small carry-on and will have a battery allowing a half-hour flight time for a distance of around 31 miles.

Companies could soon track people everywhere they go online, even if they switch browsers
A team of researchers has devised a way of accurately tracking web users across multiple browsers. The breakthrough could prove particularly useful to advertisers, enabling them to continue serving targeted ads to internet users, even if they tried to avoid them by switching from Chrome to Firefox or Windows Edge. The research can be found in a paper penned by Lehigh University's Yinzhi Cao and Song Li, and Washington University in St. Louis' Erik Wijmans, titled (Cross-)Browser Fingerprinting via OS and Hardware Level Features. The technique reliably identifies the'digital fingerprint' of users' browsers, based on information such as extensions, plugins, time zone and whether or not an adblocker is installed. Robo-bees may bring new fix for pollination problem
Mini drones sporting horsehair coated in a sticky gel could one day take the pressure off beleaguered bee populations by transporting pollen from plant to plant, researchers said. Roughly three-quarters of the world's flowering plants and about 35 percent of the world's food crops depend on animals to pollinate them, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Some of nature's most prolific pollinators are bees, but bee populations are declining around the world, and last month, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service listed a native species as endangered for the first time. Now, researchers from Japan said they've taken the first steps toward creating robots that could help pick up the slack from insect pollinators. The scientists created a sticky gel that lets a $100 matchbox-size drone pick up pollen from one flower and deposit it onto another to help the plants reproduce.
World's first commercial flying car is now on sale
A Dutch vehicle manufacturer has made flying cars commercially available for the first time ever. PAL-V has created the Liberty Sport and Liberty Pioneer, a pair of two-person three-wheelers capable of flying at speeds of up to 112mph. The Sport is the cheaper of the two, with the base model starting at $400,000. The Pioneer, meanwhile, comes in at $600,000.
