Google's Photos app now dramatically improves users' videos

Google has started rolling out a new update to its Photos app, which is designed to dramatically improve your videos. Photos now features a tool for stabilising jerky video footage, making poorly shot clips look far smoother. Once you've updated the app, all you need to do is open a video, tap the Edit button and select Stabilise. The I.F.O. is fuelled by eight electric engines, which is able to push the flying object to an estimated top speed of about 120mph. There are two ways to look at the future: The first assumes a linear progression from past achievements and is relevant to forecasting short periods of time, where the future is a derivative of the past. The other method assumes that in the period of a decade, the law of accelerated returns applies exponentially and compounds acceleration assuming a high level of change in the period forecasted. The following is a short-term forecast and therefore does NOT assume we will see a period of accelerated returns because of the short sample of time. Many people in the financial industry are trying to prepare for or predict what the financial services sector will look like in 2020. Will artificial intelligence replace operations? Will performing financial functions occur in an instantaneous manner from the palm of our hands? Will there be enough disruption so that large banks will no longer exist?


The Game of Go Is No Longer Insurmountable for AI

Google has taken a brilliant and unexpected step toward building an AI with more humanlike intuition, developing a computer capable of beating even expert human players at the fiendishly complicated board game Go. The objective of Go, a game invented in China more than 2,500 years ago, is fairly simple: players must alternately place black and white "stones" on a grid of 19 horizontal and 19 vertical lines with the aim of surrounding the opponent's pieces, and avoiding having one's own pieces surrounded. Mastering Go, however, requires endless practice, as well as a finely tuned knack of recognizing subtle patterns in the arrangement of the pieces spread across the board. Google's team has shown that the skills needed to master Go are not so uniquely human after all. Their computer program, called AlphaGo, beat the European Go champion, Fan Hui, five games to zero.

Hermes has announced a new trial for self-driving delivery robots in the UK. The autonomous machines, which have a top speed of 4mph, are 55cm tall and 70cm long, and weigh 18kg. They can carry up to 10kg at a time, with packages stored inside a secure compartment that can be unlocked with a code sent to the customer's phone. Windows users urged to update computers after major NSA hacking tool release

Windows users are being told to update their computers after a hacking group released a collection of exploits designed to help cybercriminals break into Microsoft's software. The tools, which were released by the Shadow Brokers group, had allegedly been stolen from the US' National Security Agency (NSA) last summer. It is believed that NSA spies had been using the exploits to secretly break into computers running older versions of Windows, including XP and Vista. Microsoft says "most of the exploits" have already been addressed with a series of patches – one of which was issued as recently as last month – but warned Windows users to make sure their devices are up to date. WhatsApp has started testing a new feature designed to take some of the hassle out of changing your contact details. The messaging app could soon automatically tell everybody in your address book that you've changed your phone number, which should save you a little bit of time and stress. The feature has been spotted on the beta version of WhatsApp for Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile, by @WABetaInfo. Their collective effort is all-encompassing and cuts through all socio-economic borders. "To remain competitive, we have to embrace new technology such as automation. Industry 4.0 will be a total transformation of the economy. Whether one chooses to embrace it or not, it is inevitable. We need to organise ourselves to participate in and make plans for it," says Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.
