Google's artificial intelligence program AlphaGo has beaten a master of the ancient Chinese strategy game Go for the second time. The victory was part of a three match event taking place this week that is meant to test the limits of computers in taking on humans at complex tasks. Ke Jie the 19-year-old Chinese world number one, anointed the program as the new'Go god' after his defeat. It is a feather in the cap for Google's parent company Alphabet's ambitions in the artificial intelligence arena, as it looks to woo Beijing to gain re-entry into the country. In the latest round of man versus machine, machine has come out on top. Google's AlphaGo beat Go world champion Ke Jie for a second time in as many days, taking an unassailable lead in the three-part series. By rights, Deepmind's AI can now be considered the world's best Go player, having beaten the game's two biggest names in a little under a year. Although today's result wasn't as "close" as the first match, where AlphaGo won by just half a point, Deepmind CEO Demis Hassabis said that Ke Jie played "perfectly" for much of the contest before he resigned, at least according to AlphaGo's evaluations. "For the first 100 moves it was the closest we've ever seen anyone play against the Master version of AlphaGo," Hassabis confirmed in the post-game press conference. "Today's game was different from the first," Ke said, reported by The Verge.

Internet users outside China could watch this week's games live but Chinese censors blocked most mainland web users from seeing the Google site carrying the feed. None of China's dozens of video sites carried the live broadcasts but a recording of Tuesday's game was available the following night on one popular site, Youku.com.

The U.S.-based company said Wednesday (May 24) that it is launching a chatbot that links to Facebook in the U.S. and WeChat in China to facilitate B2B payments. "WeChat is everything in China. Email is somewhat outdated," Wyre CEO Michael Dunworth said. "WeChat has 1.1 billion accounts with over 750 million daily active users, so everyone in China uses WeChat, but everyone in the West uses Facebook and email." Taking advantage of the popularity of both platforms means Wyre is looking to gain a larger share of the cross-border B2B payments space.

NEW YORK – China's SZ DJI Technology unveiled a small camera drone starting at $499 that can take off and land from the palm of a hand, seeking to appeal to the broader consumer market. The new Spark drone weighs about 300 grams, is equipped with a 1080-pixel video camera and can be controlled with a remote, a mobile device or using hand gestures alone, DJI said at an event in New York on Wednesday. The Shenzhen-based company will start shipping orders in mid-June. DJI is the world's leading maker of drones, but most of the gadgets in its existing lineup cost $1,000 or more and are used for surveying crops or industrial sites and in high-end filmmaking. The 11-year-old company is looking to expand its market to stay ahead as global revenue in the industry is projected to increase from more than $6 billion this year to $11.2 billion by 2020, according to researcher Gartner Inc. As the drone market becomes more mainstream, DJI is facing competition from cheaper rivals, especially in China, that have flooded the market with models from $10 mini toys to sub-$100 camera carriers.

Time and again, he pinched the short strands between his thumb and index fingers, twisting the hair around one and then the other. His opponent, AlphaGo, the machine built by researchers at Google's DeepMind lab, merely played the game. And in the end, as seemed inevitable, it won. With the win, AlphaGo claimed victory in its three-game match with the Ke Jie, taking a 2-0 lead.

The Dubai police have officially inducted the world's first operational robot police officer into the force. The'robocop' is over 5 feet tall, weighs 100 kg and has a facial recognition software with which it can identify offenders. The robot is capable of speaking six languages and people can use its built-in tablet device to access various police services.
