While open source machine learning projects like Google's TensorFlow and Amazon's DSSTNE lower the bar to would-be machine learning engineers, resolving the skills deficit that Gartner analyst Merv Adrian called the biggest hurdle to machine learning success, no amount of training can resolve a thornier issue: Lack of data. Yandex, the Google of Russia, has plenty of data, coupled with experience wrangling it to machine learning success. It's therefore fascinating to hear Yandex COO Alexander Khaytin talk through the best ways to bridge the data divide that keeps the vast majority of enterprises from achieving machine learning success. As an information-security consultant, Alexandre Pinto spent 12 years helping companies set up difficult-to-configure systems to cull security intelligence from logs and security events. Yet configuring the systems required months of work and even then needed constant maintenance to enable them to detect the latest threats and pinpoint likely malicious traffic. He realized that while companies may want to monitor their networks for threats, they typically have too few security people to work through data from far too many logs -- a problem that will only get worse as companies seek to sift through more operational data to detect threats. Big data could be the downfall of security if companies don't find better ways of dealing with the growing volumes, he says. "What chance do we have: We can't find the needle in the haystack as it is now, and now the haystack is 100,000 times larger," he says.

The hallmark of Human-Machine Interaction has been marked by the constant endeavor to make machine interactions more'human-like'. HMI has come a long way from its'command prompt' days where the interaction was machine-centric to touch screens where users interacted with machines using natural gestures. Today, machines have the capability to understand voice (Natural Language Processing) and sight (Image and Vision Computing) – the two senses which humans use most for communication. This has been made possible by advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning that enable machines to interpret, decipher and contextualise human inputs into machine understandable and readable formats. Machines have begun to understand natural human interaction cues with greater accuracy; and interactions have become adaptive and multimodal (type, touch, voice, sight) as compared to the earlier unimodal, passive and command based interactions.

Donald Trump is being sued because of his behaviour on Twitter. The president's unprecedented Twitter use – which he has said is "modern day presidential" – has landed him a range of criticism in recent weeks. But the new lawsuit actually focuses not on his tweets but something else more private: his blocking critics on the site. The new case argued that it is unconstitutional to stop people following him on Twitter. The I.F.O. is fuelled by eight electric engines, which is able to push the flying object to an estimated top speed of about 120mph. Technology has penetrated our daily lives in a quiet unobtrusive fashion. We don't blink, when the search engine in our computer suggests relevant searches, or the online market place already knows our favourite colognes and other shopping preferences, or when our phones type the next anticipated words, the tablets are commanded through voice recognition, and the TV commercial enlightens us, on how to activate our air conditioner using a mobile device, so that we reach home to an ambient temperature. When computer systems clone human intelligence and are able to visualise, and perform speech recognition we enter the arena of artificial intelligence (AI)--a stream of computer science wherein computers are engineered to reason, and thereafter process decisions, like human beings. The fight between man and machine is time immemorial and with each technological advance there are benefits and costs, whether it's jobs or the loss of privacy. The all-new Audi A8 has been unveiled by the German automaker at its first Audi Summit held in Barcelona. The sedan has been re-engineered with a new design language, an innovative touchscreen operating concept and a systematically "electrified" driving experience according to Audi. The fourth generation of the A8, which was last refreshed in 2009 is expected to go on sale globally in October this year and is expected to enter Indian markets only in 2018. Audi claims the new A8 luxury sedan is the first series production road car to have been developed expressly for what it describes as a "highly automated driving" experience. The new A8 draws on the evolution of the company's MLB platform.

His company largely caters to the country's burgeoning automotive industry, a big exporter to the United States. Midway through 2017, however, it looks as if Mexico's automotive engine can't be stalled: the industry is anticipating its eighth consecutive year of record-high production and exports. And in a bid to stay competitive, the Mexican car industry is embracing ever more automation.

In Japan, Investments for the Future Strategy 2017, the latest growth strategy of the Shinzo Abe Cabinet, places the Fourth Industrial Revolution as the top priority for growth promotion policies. On the other hand, the negative impacts of AI and robotics, especially loss of human jobs, have been actively discussed around the world. According to an influential study by Frey and Osborne (2017), about 47% of total US employment faces the risk of being computerised. Their study attracted attention not only from researchers, but also policymakers around the world.

Sleep is a naturally recurring state of mind and body, characterized by altered consciousness, relatively inhibited sensory activity, inhibition of nearly all voluntary muscles, and reduced interactions with surroundings.[1] It is distinguished from wakefulness by a decreased ability to react to stimuli, but is more easily reversed than the state of being comatose. Sleep occurs in repeating periods, in which the body alternates between two distinct modes known as non-REM and REM sleep. Although REM stands for "rapid eye movement", this mode of sleep has many other aspects, including virtual paralysis of the body. A well-known feature of sleep is the dream, an experience typically recounted in narrative form, which resembles waking life while in progress, but which usually can later be distinguished as fantasy. During sleep, most of the body's systems are in an anabolic state, helping to restore the immune, nervous, skeletal, and muscular systems; these are vital processes that maintain mood, memory, and cognitive performance, and play a large role in the function of the endocrine and immune systems.[2] The internal circadian clock promotes sleep daily at night. The diverse purposes and mechanisms of sleep are the subject of substantial ongoing research.[3] The advent of artificial light has substantially altered sleep timing in industrialized countries.[4] Humans may suffer from various sleep disorders, including dyssomnias, such as insomnia, hypersomnia, narcolepsy, and sleep apnea; parasomnias, such as sleepwalking and REM behavior disorder; bruxism; and circadian rhythm sleep disorders. The most pronounced physiological changes in sleep occur in the brain.[5]
