Towards reduction of autocorrelation in HMC by machine learning

In this paper we propose new algorithm to reduce autocorrelation in Markov chain Monte-Carlo algorithms for euclidean field theories on the lattice. Our proposing algorithm is the Hybrid Monte-Carlo algorithm (HMC) with restricted Boltzmann machine. We examine the validity of the algorithm by employing the phi-fourth theory in three dimension. We observe reduction of the autocorrelation both in symmetric and broken phase as well. Our proposing algorithm provides consistent central values of expectation values of the action density and one-point Green's function with ones from the original HMC in both the symmetric phase and broken phase within the statistical error. On the other hand, two-point Green's functions have slight difference between one calculated by the HMC and one by our proposing algorithm in the symmetric phase. Furthermore, near the criticality, the distribution of the one-point Green's function differs from the one from HMC. We discuss the origin of discrepancies and its improvement.

Once upon a time, the very concept of Open Source was absurd, and only its proponents ever thought it could be other than marginal. Important software could only be built and supported by sophisticated businesses, an expensive industrial component whose blueprints -- the source code -- was extremely valuable. It became clear, to no historian's surprise, that once knowledge is sufficiently distributed and tools become cheap enough, distributed development by heterogeneously (and heterogeneously motivated) people not only creates high-quality software at zero marginal cost; because it only takes a single motivated individual to leverage existing developments and move them forward regardless of its novelty or risk, it's inherently much more creative. Open Source developers can take risks others can't, and they begin from further ahead, on the shoulder of other, taller developers. When has true innovation began in any other way?

Researcher Sabri Haddouche released a suite of tricks and tools, collectively called Mailsploit, that allow you to send perfectly spoofed messages from more than a dozen popular email clients. And speaking of phishing, new research shows a spike in the use of HTTPS web encryption on phishing sites. Attackers want the green padlock that comes with HTTPS to make their phishing sites look more legitimate and persuasive to potential victims. At least the ad blocker Ghostery is working on using artificial intelligence to catch--and block--new types of ad-trackers more quickly.

HYDERABAD: While cyber attacks have been a major cause of concern this year, internet security experts warn that 2018 could bring in more sophisticated attacks using Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. So far, these technologies have been used as mechanisms for protection and detection of threats, but the year ahead could witness a reversal of sorts. "With their ever-increasing technical proficiency, attacks by cyber criminals are expected to become more pronounced in 2018. These attackers will use machine learning and artificial intelligence to launch even more potent threats. More virulent malware and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks in comparison to the WannaCry attack are expected. Cyber criminals will be able to use AI to explore victims' networks, which is typically the most labour-intensive part of compromise after an incursion," said Tarun Kaura, director (product management), Symantec.


Taiwan-made driverless cars ready to hit the road: developer Science & Technology

Taipei, Dec. 9 (CNA) Taiwan's Automotive Research Testing Center (ARTC) is preparing to put driverless cars on the road, saying that it now has all the necessary technology to do so. Since the ARTC first invested in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) back in 2007, it has been working toward the goal of developing driverless vehicles, it said. In a recent interview with reporters, ARTC General Manager Huang Lung-chou (้ปƒ้š†ๆดฒ) said that not only has the center acquired the technological expertise to develop a driverless car, but it has also conquered the challenges associated with navigating such vehicles in real traffic. He said the ARTC has mapped out certain controlled areas in which its driverless vehicles will operate, in order to gather more data on the vehicles' navigation, before taking them into traffic. The ARTC said its driverless cars use 10 ADAS capabilities, including automatic parking, lane change assistance and a collision avoidance system.
