Incorporating GAN for Negative Sampling in Knowledge Representation Learning

Knowledge representation learning aims at modeling knowledge graph by encoding entities and relations into a low dimensional space. Most of the traditional works for knowledge embedding need negative sampling to minimize a margin-based ranking loss. However, those works construct negative samples through a random mode, by which the samples are often too trivial to fit the model efficiently. In this paper, we propose a novel knowledge representation learning framework based on Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). In this GAN-based framework, we take advantage of a generator to obtain high-quality negative samples. Meanwhile, the discriminator in GAN learns the embeddings of the entities and relations in knowledge graph. Thus, we can incorporate the proposed GAN-based framework into various traditional models to improve the ability of knowledge representation learning. Experimental results show that our proposed GAN-based framework outperforms baselines on triplets classification and link prediction tasks.
Cafe utilizing robot waiters remotely controlled by people with disabilities to open in Tokyo
A cafe will open in Tokyo's Akasaka district in November featuring robot waiters remotely controlled from home by people with severe physical disabilities. The cafe, which will be open on weekdays between Nov. 26 to Dec. 7, will deploy OriHime-D robots controlled by disabled people with conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a form of motor neuron disease. The robot waiters, 1.2 meters tall and weighing 20 kg., will transmit video footage and audio via the internet, allowing their controllers to direct them from home via tablets or computers. At an event marking the OriHime-D's debut in August, a robot controlled by Nozomi Murata, who suffers from auto-phagic vacuolar myopathy that causes muscle weakness, asked a family if they would like some chocolate. "I want to create a world in which people who can't move their bodies can work too," said Kentaro Yoshifuji, chief executive officer of Ory Lab. Inc., the developer of the robots.

Alibaba Group will set up a dedicated chip subsidiary and aims to launch its first self-developed AI inference chip in the second half of 2019 that could be used for autonomous driving, smart cities and logistics. The Chinese firm said at an event in Hangzhou on Wednesday that the new subsidiary would make customised AI chips and embedded processors to support the firm's push into fast-growing cloud and internet of things (IoT) businesses. Alibaba's aggressive drive to develop its own semiconductors comes as China's government looks to raise the quality of home-made chips to help propel high-tech domestic industries from cutting-edge transport to AI healthcare systems. Novel system uses AI to detect abnormalities in fetal hearts
A research group led by scientists from the RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) have developed a novel system that can automatically detect abnormalities in fetal hearts in real-time using artificial intelligence (AI). This technology could help examiners to avoid missing severe and complex congenital heart abnormalities that require prompt treatments, leading to early diagnosis and well-planned treatment plans, and could contribute to the development of perinatal or neonatal medicine. Congenital heart problems -- which can involve abnormalities of the atrium, ventricle, valves or blood vessel connections -- can be very serious, and account for about 20% of all newborn deaths. Diagnosis of such problems before the baby is born, allowing for prompt treatment within a week after birth, is known to markedly improve the prognosis, so there have been many attempts to develop technology to enables accurate and rapid diagnosis. However, today, fetal diagnosis depends heavily on observations by experienced examiners using ultrasound imaging, so it is unfortunately not uncommon for children to be born without having been properly diagnosed.

AI-powered service marketplace raises $17 million to "disrupt the classifieds market"
YouDo.com, a platform that matches people requesting and providing day-to-day services, has raised $17 million in an equity funding round led by mobile operator MTS, as reported by the business daily Kommersant. MTS put $12 million on the table, while undisclosed amounts were brought by the other investors, namely Sistema Venture Capital (a one of the venture instruments of Sistema, a conglomerate that controls MTS), Flint Capital and United Capital Partners (UCP), as well as individual investors Sergey Solonin and Alexander Kabakov. The funding will support the company's "geographic expansion," launch of new service categories, marketing campaign and further service automation.
