Graph Convolutional Neural Networks based on Quantum Vertex Saliency

This paper proposes a new Quantum Spatial Graph Convolutional Neural Network (QSGCNN) model that can directly learn a classification function for graphs of arbitrary sizes. Unlike state-of-the-art Graph Convolutional Neural Network (GCNN) models, the proposed QSGCNN model incorporates the process of identifying transitive aligned vertices between graphs, and transforms arbitrary sized graphs into fixed-sized aligned vertex grid structures. In order to learn representative graph characteristics, a new quantum spatial graph convolution is proposed and employed to extract multi-scale vertex features, in terms of quantum information propagation between grid vertices of each graph. Since the quantum spatial convolution preserves the grid structures of the input vertices (i.e., the convolution layer does not change the original spatial sequence of vertices), the proposed QSGCNN model allows to directly employ the traditional convolutional neural network architecture to further learn from the global graph topology, providing an end-to-end deep learning architecture that integrates the graph representation and learning in the quantum spatial graph convolution layer and the traditional convolutional layer for graph classifications. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed QSGCNN model in relation to existing state-of-the-art methods. The proposed QSGCNN model addresses the shortcomings of information loss and imprecise information representation arising in existing GCN models associated with the use of SortPooling or SumPooling layers. Experiments on benchmark graph classification datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed QSGCNN model.


Pakistan army says it shot down another India drone over Kashmir

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's military says it has shot down a second Indian spy drone in two days flying in Pakistani airspace over the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir. Gen. Asif Ghafoor says Pakistani troops downed the drone Wednesday along the Line of Control that divides the Pakistani- and Indian-controlled portions of Kashmir. Authorities say Pakistani troops retrieved the wreckage of the Indian drone. Pakistan's military also reported shooting down a drone from India on Tuesday. There has been no comment from India.


Audioburst turns the best part of podcasts into personalized news briefs

Tel Aviv-based Audioburst has been developing a search engine for audio news, which allows users to locate audio content within podcasts and other talk radio programs. Today, the company is capitalizing on its technology to launch personalized playlists that deliver custom news briefs that get better over time the more you use the product. The feature has been built using deep AI learning, the company says. The content itself is drawn from top podcasts and the radio stations in Audioburst's index, and will alert you to new information based on your chosen keywords and topics. To use the feature, you first sign up on the Audioburst website, then select from a set of interests or add your own.

In the wake of Amazon's hiring debacle involving an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered recruiter discriminating against women, experts maintain that machines themselves aren't biased -- they're only mirroring and amplifying cultural biases in the real world. The solution to shoddy machine learning, these experts say, is deceptively simple: better data. Worldwide spending on cognitive and artificial intelligence (AI) systems reached an estimated $19 billion, almost doubling the amount from 2017, according to research firm IDC. The promise of AI technology has spawned a race between the U.S. and China, both fighting for the title of global leader. According to a report by PwC, the industry is expected to boost U.S. GDP by 14.5% by 2030 -- second only to China, which is expected to see a 26.1% boost.
