Researchers at King Saud University, in Saudi Arabia, have developed a new approach to detect cyberbullying on Twitter using deep learning called OCDD. In contrast with other deep-learning approaches, which extract features from tweets and feed them to a classifier, their method represents a tweet as a set of word vectors. It turns out that even robots are having a tough time holding down a job. Japan's Henn-na "Strange" Hotel has laid off half its 243 robots after they created more problems than they could solve, as first reported by The Wall Street Journal. One of the layoffs included a doll-shaped assistant in each hotel room called Churi. Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa can answer questions about local businesses' opening and closing times, but Churi couldn't. When hotel guests asked Churi "What time does the theme park open?" it didn't have a good answer.

Hundreds of millions of email addresses and passwords have been posted online for anyone to download. Nearly 800 million logins are in the huge dump which contains information from thousands of data breaches. The stolen details are likely to be in use for years as hackers attempt to take over affected users accounts. Cybersecurity expert Troy Hunt said a list of more than 2.6 billion records containing around 773 million unique email addresses and more than 21 million unique passwords was being shared on a "popular hacking forum". Mr Hunt said his initial analysis of the data, which has been dubbed Collection £1, found it had been compiled from more than 2,000 different data breaches and hacked databases or websites, confirming some of his own personal information had also appeared in the lists.

Huawei has stated that a dispute with T-Mobile was settled in 2017 after a report said US authorities had opened a criminal investigation into the Chinese telecommunications company. The US justice department (DoJ) was, according to the Wall Street Journal which cited anonymous sources, in the "advanced" stages of a criminal inquiry that could result in an indictment of Huawei. The newspaper said the DoJ was looking into allegations of theft of trade secrets from Huawei's US business partners, including a T-Mobile robotic device used to test smartphones. Huawei and the DoJ declined to comment directly on the report. Huawei said: "Huawei and T-Mobile settled their disputes in 2017 following a US jury verdict finding neither damage, unjust enrichment nor wilful and malicious conduct by Huawei in T-Mobile's trade secret claim."
