Vision:"To push the quantum computing advancement by creating a cloud developing environment so that every one in the country can take part in this next industrial revolution" Quantum Mechanics is a branch of science emerged in the early 20th century. By the tremendous work of Max Planck, Einstein, Linus Pauli, de Broglie etc, the quantum mechanical science flourished and proved to be the basic inner working of the universe. As we move along, the way through with all the possible thing in the universe works based on the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics. As technology evolved, humans mastered the ability to manipulate the fundamental particles and make everything works from medicine to computer. In the early 80, renowned physicist Von Newman along with other giants like Richard Feynman, David Deutsch conceived the concept of computational devices which takes advantages of quantum mechanical principles.

A Japanese hotel is going to swap robots for humans

FOX News

A hotel chain in Tokyo is trying to be the first run by robots, albeit with a few malfunctions along the way, according to a new report. Japanese travel company H.I.S. has been opening hotels where robots man the front desk, check-in is handled by a kiosk, and face recognition opens the door to your room. The hotel name, Henn na Hotel ("henn na" means strange in Japanese) underscores the eerie presence of robots and the relative dearth of humans. The first hotel opened in 2015 and was recognized by Guinness World Records as "the first robot-staffed hotel" in the world, according to the Japan Times. H.I.S. is slowly expanding the number of robot-centric locations.

Pakistan's place in Artificial Intelligence and computing

In the world of science and technology, it is being said that we are at the beginning of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The first that lasted from 1760 to 1840 brought in the age of mechanized production. It was the result of new materials like iron and steel, which combined with new energy resources of coal and steam, led to'mass production', and a factory system with division of labor. The second industrial revolution from 1870 to the early part of 20th century was the result of electricity, and the internal combustion engine. Both powered industrial machines and made transport possible.

Read on if you like robots and GPUs. Nvidia robotics lab opens: Nvidia's AI robotics lab has officially opened its doors after CEO Jensen Huang paid a visit to its Seattle office. The lab was announced back in November last year with an initial staff of 14 researchers, but is now hoping to expand to 32 by the middle of 2019. It will be led by Dieter Fox, who is currently on leave from his role as a professor of computer science at the University of Washington. Researchers will focus on merging AI software with hardware to create robots for manufacturing and healthcare purposes.

HDFC Bank looks to attract India's best minds in machine learning with unique hackathon - Express Computer

HDFC Bank, arguably India's best managed bank in terms of risk mitigation and sustained profitability metrics, heavily uses machine learning technologies to create accurate credit risk models. The bank also has to its credit innovations such as 10 second loans, for which it uses algorithms. To boost its machine learning and AI capability, the bank has launched a hackathon on HackerEarth. "Under the Centre of Digital Excellence (CODE), the Bank is organising the Hackathon challenge to hire data scientists. The top talent that emerges out of this challenge will be offered the chance to work in the Bank in the risk analytics team. We are looking at specialisation in coding and machine learning. This initiative is part of the Bank's endeavour to remain at the cutting edge of leading technologies like AI, ML etc. We hope to harness the potential talent that exists outside to enhance our capabilities in digital and technology," said Nitin Chugh, Country Head – Digital Banking, HDFC Bank.

The Fascinating Ways Facial Recognition AIs Are Used In China

#artificialintelligence

The country on the cutting edge of facial recognition technology and the amazing ways it can be put to use is definitely China. While the Chinese government and many of the country's current systems, large population (more than 1.3 billion citizens) and centralized identity data bases might make adopting facial recognition technology easier than in Europe or the United States, Chinese-based technology companies are also leaders in investing and building useful innovations to find new ways to profit from the use of computer vision. Unlike your fingerprint, your faceprint can be scanned at a distance. Your individual faceprint is a unique code that is applicable to you. It's created by measuring distances between points on your face such as the width of your nose or the distance between your eyes.

AI and Commercial Insurance -- The Future is Here? – Steve Tunstall – Medium

#artificialintelligence

A superb infographic was released this week from the clever people at intelligentinsurer.com - Here's an extract: Having surveyed over 300 commercial insurers it seems clear the industry has reached a tipping point -- at least in respect of how they reply to surveys. The overwhelming majority of respondents now firmly believe the wind of technological change (in the form of AI) is coming to one of the quieter backwaters of the insurance sector, commercial. Who is still in denial? As a company that tries to be an agent of change in this sector in Asia for SME insurance (an Insurtech, in the jargon), one of the standout lessons I've learned in the last three years building Inzsure.com is that this sector is slow to adopt new ideas. I'm still not quite sure where the headwinds come from but will try and develop some themes in this article.
