The Ministry Human Resource Department, in a press release, said that several national tech universities in the country have set up AI centres for education and research and development. These universities include the Indian Institutes of Technology in Kharagpur and Madras and the Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing in Kancheepuram. Also involved are the National Institute of Technology in Silchar and the National Institute of Technology in Bhopal. Their centres will offer courses related to AI, for example, in deep learning foundations and applications, reinforcement learning, probabilistic reasoning, predictive and prescriptive data analytics, system identification, physical cybersecurity, and digital image processing. India's acts and statutes that govern these institutions allow them to freely collaborate with institutions and universities across the world for academic and research.

The latest Fortnite update has been delayed after the creators of the wildly popular game revealed an issue with the v7.40 patch release. The update was due to be released this week ahead of the widely-anticipated Season 8 of the battle royale sensation. Delays to the patch will affect all platforms that support Fortnite, including PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile users. Nasa is about to announce the future of the Opportunity rover, a pioneering robot that has spent years exploring the Martian surface. The space agency hasn't heard from its rover for eight months, when it disappeared and has not been heard from since. Now Nasa will send its last messages to the rover. But more than 1,000 have already been sent, with no reply from the rover, which is now facing a cold winter that will almost certainly kill it off if it doesn't manage to wake up. It's just as hard to say goodbye to Opportunity, as it was to its fellow rover Spirit, project manager John Callas told The Associated Press.

Two weeks ago I would have said flying cars were still firmly in the realm of techno-utopian fantasy, as they have been for decades. WASHINGTON - The U.S. military wants to expand its use of artificial intelligence in warfare, but says it will take care to deploy the technology in accordance with the nation's values. The Pentagon outlined its first AI strategy in a report released Tuesday. The plan calls for accelerating the use of AI systems throughout the military, from intelligence-gathering operations to predicting maintenance problems in planes or ships. It urges the U.S. to advance such technology swiftly before other countries chip away at its technological advantage. "Other nations, particularly China and Russia, are making significant investments in AI for military purposes, including in applications that raise questions regarding international norms and human rights," the report says.
