97-year-old woman rescued after Nepali floods looked like 'a warrior'

Guna Maya Bohara's great-nephew, Dipak Bohara, has told BBC Nepali she looked like a warrior who had returned victorious from battle. The operation to pull Bohara out of the rubble of her care home took four hours. Bohara travelled from Kathmandu to help rescue his great-aunt.

As well as ambulances, hearses were also seen along the route, where rescuers said entire villages had been washed away by floodwaters. The missing include more than 100 from India, 54 from the US, and 33 from the UK, as well as more than 100 from Nepal itself, according to Nepal's tourist board. The BBC Nepali's Shreejana Shrestha is in a hospital in Kathmandu, where some survivors are being flown in by helicopter for treatment. Huge fire rips through residential homes in Manila

A large fire broke out in two buildings in the Tondo district of Philippines capital, Manila on Saturday night, affecting around 700 families, according to local media reports. Footage of the scale of the fire was shared by the Manila Public Information Office, which said that the fire had been brought under control. Three people are said to have been injured.
