If you are looking for an answer to the question What is Artificial Intelligence? and you only have a minute, then here's the definition the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence offers on its home page: "the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines."
However, if you are fortunate enough to have more than a minute, then please get ready to embark upon an exciting journey exploring AI (but beware, it could last a lifetime) …
The overarching term "artificial intelligence (AI)" is a hub with many spokes. SAP's machine learning platform, SAP Clea, is embedded in our cloud platform and applications, enabling cutting edge algorithms to be utilized for predictive analytics and more. Let's take a look at a short video on predictive analytics and machine learning with SAP HANA. "SAP's vision for machine learning and artificial intelligence goes way beyond one business application.
Following their success in data handling and processing to fuel the fire of Machine Learning, SAP has now jumped head long into the direct integration of Machine Learning in their tool through the launch of SAP CLEA. SAP CLEA is a recently launched Machine Learning Solution of SAP providing embedded intelligent systems on the SAP cloud platform with various applications involved. The focus is to drive business applications with smart algorithms and models for maneuvering unprecedented insights, be able to make better predictions and decisions and also automate the various routine redundant tasks while focusing on higher-value work. SAP CLEA is the first front of the future of SAP's Machine Learning systems which are to include several applications, tools and services, all developed in collaboration with and feedback from the various co-innovation customers across domains and regions.
Machine learning and artificial intelligence provide unheard-of opportunities to banks and insurers to gain actionable insights from the large amounts of data they are dealing with on a daily basis. Powered by SAP Next-Gen, the bootcamp event brought together SAP and customer expertise, as well as research insights from the Hasso Plattner Institute, Portsmouth Business School, University College London, and University of Leipzig. Developed within the SAP Innovation Center Network, SAP Clea offers customers the possibility to discover unprecedented insights and automate routine tasks so that employees can focus on higher-value work. To drive innovation with a purpose, SAP Next-Gen is bringing together banks and insurers with the goal of building a community and enabling exchange within an open network that connects customers, SAP experts, partners, academic thought leaders, and startups.
To help organizations inject some flexibility into those supply chains, SAP has announced it has infused its SAP Business Planning Suite of software with a suite of machine learning algorithms it has packaged together under a SAP Clea brand name. Martin Barkman, vice president and global head of digital business planning for SAP, says SAP Clea takes supply chains past predictive analytics to give organizations access to software that over time learns how to optimize the supply chain. Barkman says managing those processes at scale, however, will require relying more on machine learning algorithms to optimize the supply chain. The difference now is that supply chain software will learn how to make those adjustments on its own to achieve the desired outcome.
Machine Learning is no longer a thing of the future. It's here now, and SAP is putting it in your hands. SAP Clea is a revolutionary new machine learning-enabled intelligence that allows new levels of automation and new ways of doing business. Incorporating Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into enterprise software opens the opportunity to simplify employees' everyday lives and to grow your business.
