The never-ending fight with bias and AI systems that learn by watching YouTube. EU mobilizes to rein in tech giants. Facebook's AI has migrated all their AI systems to PyTorch. Within a year, there are more than 1,700 PyTorch-based inference models in full production at Facebook, and 93 percent of their new training models are on PyTorch. The times are hardly perfect for self-driving car companies.

As we noted at the beginning of this series on the AI bank of the future, disruptive AI technologies can dramatically improve banks' performance in four key areas: higher profits, at-scale personalization, smart omnichannel experiences, and rapid innovation cycles. The stakes could not be higher, and success requires a holistic transformation spanning all layers of the organization's capability stack. Our previous articles have focused on the capability stack's technology layers: reimagined engagement, 1 1. Leveraging these capabilities to create value requires an operating model combining structure, talent, culture, and ways of working to synchronize all layers of the stack. Synchronizing these layers is not easy. Any organization undertaking an AI-bank transformation must determine how to structure the organization so that its people interact and leverage tools and capabilities to deliver value for each customer at scale. In this article, we take a closer look at the need for a platform operating model, the categories and scope of operating models, and the building blocks of effective models.
Swedish luxury automobile manufacturer Volvo Cars and leading ICT provider Ericsson have taken an important step towards achieving seamless cross-border 5G connectivity in vehicles. Partners in the EU-backed 5GCroCo project, the two companies successfully tested the handover of connected cars between two national mobile 5G networks. The trial took place at the AstaZero test site in Sweden. The track has testing capabilities for different traffic environments, making it possible to assess advanced safety systems for all kinds of traffic situations. It features a 5.7 km rural road, a city area, a high-speed area and a multi-lane road.
Recently, I've been discussing Professor John Lennox's book entitled 2084, which is all about the development and production of artificial intelligence. As an Atheist, I clearly have many differences with his Christian perspective. Wherever you sit with regard to the God question, Christianity, or the ethical concerns that are raised with the advancement of AI, you have to give varying perspectives their due. Today, I wanted to spend a moment chatting about how artificial intelligence is impacting the advertising world and the serious ethical questions that are raised by that. So let's begin with a couple of points from that book Professor Lennox wrote.
Marc Andreessen should need no introduction, but I'll do one anyway. He helped code the first widely used graphical web browser, Mosaic, which as I see it makes him one of the inventors of the internet. He co-founded Netscape and various other companies. He also co-founded the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (with Ben Horowitz), also known as A16Z, one of the country's largest VC firms. Recently he has launched a media publication called Future, where he occasionally writes his thoughts. Marc has been a sort of hero of mine ever since I was a teenager, when Netscape Navigator felt like it opened up the world. I came out to California in part to meet people like him. Now we know each other well, and he's a subscriber to my blog! The thing I always like about talking to Marc is how he combines relentless optimism with the concrete knowledge to back up that optimism -- both knowledge of specific details and a broad understanding of various schools of thought. Lots of people will tell you the future holds amazing possibilities; Marc will tell you exactly what those possibilities are, and why they're possible.

Machine learning engineer Ari Font was worried about the future of Twitter's algorithms. It was mid-2020, and the leader of the team researching ethics and accountability for the company's ML had just left Twitter. For Font, the future of the ethics research was unclear. Font was the manager of Twitter's machine learning platforms teams -- part of Twitter Cortex, the company's central ML organization -- at the time, but she believed that ethics research could transform the way Twitter relies on machine learning. She'd always felt that algorithmic accountability and ethics should shape not just how Twitter used algorithms, but all practical AI applications.
According to a 2020 report by Emergence, 80% of the global workforce does not sit behind a desk. According to a 2020 report by Emergence, 80% of the global workforce does not sit behind a desk. That’s an overwhelming majority of workers who are deskless and increasingly reliant on technology to do their jobs in industries impacted by factors like the growing skills gap and, most recently, a global pandemic. While employers have done much to address the needs of deskless workers over the past year, there’s untapped opportunity to make these workers – and, in turn, the industries they support – more efficient, resilient, and safe in the current working environment and beyond. On Wednesday, June 23, Rolls Royce’s XXX will join industry experts YYY from PwC and ZZZ from Librestream to teach enterprises about the power of Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable deskless workers around the world and build knowledge networks capable of sustaining the deskless workforce for decades to come. In this webinar, you will learn: Why traditional deskless worker solutions have fallen short at a time when effective remote collaboration is of peak importance How AR plus AI can improve knowledge sharing among distributed workforces, reduce knowledge loss, eliminate inefficiencies, enhance safety, improve sustainability, lower costs, and more Real-world use cases of AR and AI on devices like Microsoft’s HoloLens and the generated ROI Why organizations with large deskless workforces prefer solutions like Librestream’s AI Connected Expert Vision: Broad device support, specialized accessories, etc. Realizing true IoT: Where AI and AR converge to create the fully connected, deskless worker of tomorrow
