In an ideal platform cloud, you would not know or care what the underlying hardware was and how it was composed to run your HPC – and now AI – applications. The underlying hardware in a cloud would have a mix of different kinds of compute and storage, an all-to-all network lashing it together, and whatever you needed could be composed on the fly. This is precisely the kind of compute cloud that Google wanted to build back in April 2008 with App Engine and, as it turns out, that very few organizations wanted to buy. Companies cared – and still do – about the underlying infrastructure, but at the same time, Google still believes in its heart of hearts in the platform cloud. And that is one reason why its Tensor Processing Unit, or TPU, compute engines are only available on the Google Cloud.

In particular, we will implement FedAvg, FedSGD, FedProx, and FedDANE. You will learn about Differential Privacy (DP) and how to add it to FL, then we will implement FedAvg using DP. In this course, you will learn how to implement FL techniques locally and on the cloud. For the cloud setting, we will use Google Cloud Platform to create and configure all the instances that we will use in our experiments. By the end of this course, you will be able to implement different FL techniques and even build your own optimizer and technique. You will be able to run your experiments locally and on the cloud.


Google Cloud gets dedicated AI management platform

Google Cloud is offering users access to an AI platform that allows them to build, deploy, and manage AI projects in the cloud without needing extensive data science knowledge. Isik said the platform has been created to bring the benefits of AI and machine learning to smaller organisations, for whom adopting AI can be a daunting challenge if you lack the skills and resources available to Fortune 500 businesses. "My team of data scientists saw a real need for software that could democratize machine learning innovation by removing these common barriers," he said in a statement. The platform also includes lifecycle management capabilities to monitor infrastructure utilization and model behavior. According to Prevision.io, the intuitive user interface and predictive analytics in its platform allow users to get set up in minutes and have models up and running in three to four weeks, as opposed to months for existing ways to build and deploy machine learning models.

Deploy Machine Learning Pipeline on Google Kubernetes Engine

In our last post on deploying a machine learning pipeline in the cloud, we demonstrated how to develop a machine learning pipeline in PyCaret, containerize it with Docker and serve as a web app using Microsoft Azure Web App Services. If you haven't heard about PyCaret before, please read this announcement to learn more. In this tutorial, we will use the same machine learning pipeline and Flask app that we built and deployed previously. This time we will demonstrate how to containerize and deploy a machine learning pipeline on Google Kubernetes Engine. Previously we demonstrated how to deploy a ML pipeline on Heroku PaaS and how to deploy a ML pipeline on Azure Web Services with a Docker container.
