Apache Spark is the de-facto standard for large scale data processing. This is the first course of a series of courses towards the IBM Advanced Data Science Specialization. We strongly believe that is is crucial for success to start learning a scalable data science platform since memory and CPU constraints are to most limiting factors when it comes to building advanced machine learning models. In this course we teach you the fundamentals of Apache Spark using python and pyspark. We'll introduce Apache Spark in the first two weeks and learn how to apply it to compute basic exploratory and data pre-processing tasks in the last two weeks.
There is mounting public concern over the influence that AI based systems has in our society. Coalitions in all sectors are acting worldwide to resist hamful applications of AI. From indigenous people addressing the lack of reliable data, to smart city stakeholders, to students protesting the academic relationships with sex trafficker and MIT donor Jeffery Epstein, the questionable ethics and values of those heavily investing in and profiting from AI are under global scrutiny. There are biased, wrongful, and disturbing assumptions embedded in AI algorithms that could get locked in without intervention. Our best human judgment is needed to contain AI's harmful impact. Perhaps one of the greatest contributions of AI will be to make us ultimately understand how important human wisdom truly is in life on earth.

Its impact is drastic and real: Youtube's AIdriven recommendation system would present sports videos for days if one happens to watch a live baseball game on the platform ; email writing becomes much faster with machine learning (ML) based auto-completion ; many businesses have adopted natural language processing based chatbots as part of their customer services . AI has also greatly advanced human capabilities in complex decision-making processes ranging from determining how to allocate security resources to protect airports to games such as poker and Go . All such tangible and stunning progress suggests that an "AI summer" is happening. As some put it, "AI is the new electricity" . Meanwhile, in the past decade, an emerging theme in the AI research community is the so-called "AI for social good" (AI4SG): researchers aim at developing AI methods and tools to address problems at the societal level and improve the wellbeing of the society.
Once a user logs into an online shopping website, knowing whether the person will make a purchase or not holds a massive economical value. A lot of current research is focused on real-time revenue predictors for these shopping websites. In this article, we will start building a revenue predictor for one such website. In this Data Science Machine Learning project, we will create a Real-time prediction of online shoppers' purchasing intention Project using Apache Spark Machine Learning Models using Logistic Regression, one of the predictive models. Databricks lets you start writing Spark ML code instantly so you can focus on your data problems.
Among thousands, 10 programming languages stand out for their job marketability and wide use. Anyone can learn it from his/her initial stage in the field of software development. A free alternative to pricey statistical software such as Matlab or SAS, over the last few years R has become the golden child of data science. Why You Should Learn Python Python is one of the top programming languages requested by companies in 2017 / 2018.
If the math behind data science is an enigma, the Khan Academy is a great place for insight. There are courses for different levels, and Sal Khan's relaxed delivery will get you through even the most difficult concepts (I think I have a small crush on him after the hours I've spent listening to his narratives!).
