At 7, Clovis Hung was bored with second grade. "I wanted more of a challenge," he said. In 2019, his mother, Song Choi, pulled him out of second grade and began homeschooling him. A year later, when he was 9, he also enrolled in Fullerton College. "My husband and two daughters said I was crazy," said Choi, who's worked as a tutor for more than 20 years.
Offline (or batch) reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms seek to learn an optimal policy from a fixed dataset without active data collection. Based on the composition of the offline dataset, two main methods are used: imitation learning which is suitable for expert datasets, and vanilla offline RL which often requires uniform coverage datasets. From a practical standpoint, datasets often deviate from these two extremes and the exact data composition is usually unknown. To bridge this gap, we present a new offline RL framework that smoothly interpolates between the two extremes of data composition, hence unifying imitation learning and vanilla offline RL. The new framework is centered around a weak version of the concentrability coefficient that measures the deviation of the behavior policy from the expert policy alone.
The California Cognitive Science Conference at UC Berkeley is an annual all-day symposium bringing together hundreds of students, researchers, & members of the general public from around the world who are passionate about the interdisciplinary field of Cognitive Science for a day of talks & research presentations. We feature talks given by prominent scientists & thinkers from a wide variety of disciplines, & our acclaimed poster session provides undergraduates with the opportunity to present their original research alongside graduate students & professional researchers. The theme for this year's annual conference is "Forging Connections: Bonding & the Brain." Through this event, our speakers will explore the important roles of social connection in today's rapidly changing world: from the neurobiological & psychological implications of bonding to the consequences of technology, & much more. The conference provides attendees with a glimpse into the latest research in all the fields that comprise Cognitive Science, including but not limited to Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Philosophy, & the Social Sciences.
Controversial AI tool ChatGPT has already been banned in schools across the world over fears it encourages cheating and laziness. But the International Baccalaureate (IB), which offers an alternative to A-levels, is bucking this trend by permitting the use of ChatGPT to write essays. Students undertaking IB programmes will be able to quote passages generated by the chatbot - as long as they do not try to pass it off as their own words. Created by San Francisco-based company OpenAI, the tool has been trained on a massive amount of text so it can generate human-like responses to questions. A university student has already used ChatGPT to write a 2,000-word essay that got a 2:2 grade, although the lecturer called the language used'fishy'.

ChatGPT, an AI program capable of writing in a human-like format, brings uncertainty in higher level education, specifically with its ability to replicate educated responses. The AI has been used in recent months by students attending universities to write academic papers without so much as typing a paragraph. Schools have been made aware of this and are taking action based on each school's plagiarism policies and honor codes. Although having an AI to write papers for you may seem convenient, there are multiple issues that have been brought to light that insinuate the software does not come without drawbacks. ChatGPT was created by the start-up company OpenAI, a San Francisco based company with a close relation with Microsoft, on Nov. 30 2022. Schools across the country are combating the use of AI by blocking the software from school networks, such as the institutions' WiFi networks and school issued computers.
To read the news, the sanctity of everything from college application essays to graduate school tests to medical licensing exams is imperiled by easy access to advanced artificial intelligence like ChatGPT, the AI chatbot that can produce remarkably clear, long-form answers to complex questions. Educators in particular worry about students turning to ChatGPT to help them complete assignments. One proposed solution is to roll back the clock to the 20th century, making students write exam essays using pen and paper, without the use of any Internet-connected electronic devices. The University of California, Los Angeles, where I teach, is considering making it an honor code violation to use ChatGPT for taking an exam or writing a paper. This semester, I am telling the students in my class at the UCLA School of Law that they are free to use ChatGPT in their writing assignments.
Welcome to World University and School Wiki which anyone can add to or edit. WUaS would like to offer online CLE credits with these great universities, anticipating accrediting WUaS Law Schools in 204 countries. California, the state in which WUaS is incorporated, has 12 online law schools (none of these are ABA approved, but anyone can sit the California Bar exam, regardless of such approval, as I understand it), at present, and WUaS would like to develop another online MIT OCW/Harvard-centric law school, and eventually accredit in all 204 countries in the world, in main languages in those countries, beginning with the 6 United Nations' languages. Online Law Schools Have Yet to Pass the Bar: Many argue that fully online programs aren't the path to a traditional legal career]. WUaS is planning for a "Admitted Students' Day" for the first, matriculating Bachelor's degree class, on or around Saturday, April 14th, 2014, and the second Saturday of April for other degrees in the future.

Skeletonized human remains were found in an unused residence hall on the campus of University of California, Berkeley last week, officials said. The skeleton was found in the shuttered graffiti-ridden building on the Clark Kerr Campus on Jan. 10, but it remains unclear how many years the remains were there, police said. 'Off-scale salaries' and other components of pay, which would yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. Apply by this date to ensure full consideration by the committee. Applications will continue to be accepted until this date, but those received after the review date will only be considered if the position has not yet been filled. The School of Information at UC Berkeley welcomes applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position at the Assistant Adjunct Professor level in the area of Data Engineering, Machine Learning and/or Natural Language Processing. This faculty member will teach in and be an integral part of the Master of Information and Data Science program and will conduct research in one of, or at the intersection of, data-driven engineering, machine learning, and natural language processing.
