Wherever the winds of the market may blow, he always seems to find a way to deliver impressive returns for his investors and his company, Berkshire Hathaway. Every year he authors his famous "shareholder letter" with his musing about the market and investment strategy and -- perhaps as reflects his continued success -- this sentiment analysis of his letters by data scientist Michael Toth shows that the tone has been generally positive over time. Only five of the forty years of letters show an average negative sentiment: those correspond to market downturns in 1987, 1990, 2001/2002 and 2008. Michael used the R language to generate a sentiment score for each letter, and the process was surprisingly simple (you can find the R code here). From there, a simple ggplot2 bar chart is used to show the average sentiment scores for each letter.
'Minecraft' Nintendo Switch Worlds Will Be Way Smaller Than PS4, Xbox One
Minecraft is coming to Nintendo Switch next month, but, according to a stream recap on NeoGAF, the hybrid build of the game won't be identical to the versions found on PS4 and Xbox One. World size will be restricted on Switch, but framerate will stay the same. As detailed in the post, worlds in Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition will be cut down to "medium size." This classification equates to a buildable area spanning 3072x3072 blocks. On PS4 and Xbox One, the largest world size is 5120x5120 blocks.
Socionext Achieves Significant Milestone from Collaboration on Artificial Intelligence
SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 18, 2017 โSocionext Inc. and SOINN Inc. today announced initial results of collaboration started in 2016, in which Socionext extracts and delivers biometrics data to the "Artificial Brain SOINN". The companies achieved initial results in reading ultrasound images from Socionext's viewphii mobile ultrasound solution by Artificial Brain SOINN. The results will be introduced at Medtec Japan, held in Tokyo Big Sight, April 19-21, at booths 4505 & 4507. In this initial trial, SOINN learned to read subcutaneous fat thickness from abdominal ultrasound images. The estimations by SOINN were then compared with the reading results by ultrasound technicians.
