GE Expands Predix Platform to Advance Industrial Internet Opportunities for Customers

#artificialintelligence

The Digital Hydro Plant complements GE's Digital Wind Farm, Digital Power Plant for Gas and Digital Power Plant for Steam, enhancing power generation reliability, efficiency, cybersecurity and profitability – targeted to reduce maintenance costs by up to 10%, increase plant availability by as much as 1% and boost revenues by up to 3%. ACQUISITIONS OF BIT STEW SYSTEMS, WISE.IO ACCELERATE DIGITAL INDUSTRIAL TRANSFORMATION GE Digital announced it has acquired Bit Stew Systems to bring its data intelligence capabilities to Predix and other industrial solutions. Wise.io's deep machine learning expertise – combined with GE Digital's existing data science talent and massive portfolio of industrial assets – will advance GE's Digital Twin capabilities and solidify its role as a leader in industrial machine learning. This news follow GE's recent acquisition of ServiceMax, a leader in cloud-based field service management solutions, which enables GE Digital customers to immediately gain more productivity from their assets and find greater efficiency in their field service processes.

Artificial intelligence and HR: partnering now for better business tomorrow

#artificialintelligence

AI-powered technologies such as predictive analytics solutions machine learning platforms, and advanced natural language generation applications are being applied to HR data to analyze and facilitate decision-making in a range of areas related to culture, team productivity, and personnel development. Advanced analytics enabled eBay's HR team to capture a comprehensive view of their culture and address areas for improvement. Advanced analytics enabled eBay's HR team to capture a comprehensive view of their culture and address areas for improvement. As available data related to employee behavior and communications grow, HR departments should think about how they can use emerging technologies to answer larger questions facing the organization, like "how do remote employees spend their time versus in-office employees?"

The AI disruption wave

#artificialintelligence

Machine learning (ML) has achieved remarkable breakthroughs, which have, in turn, driven performance improvements across AI components. However, it is still early days, and there are still several challenges: Most breakthroughs are in "narrow" applications and use supervised methods that require big labeled data sets (which are often expensive to create), most algorithms (still) achieve (just) sub-human performance, training requires considerable computing resources and most approaches are based on heuristics with lack of theoretical frameworks. New image recognition techniques powered by deep learning have enabled startups like Netra to improve visual intelligence and search, enhancing overall user experience. Talla is aiming to revolutionize enterprise knowledge management, starting with a seemingly simple conversational agent that will eventually become a full-fledged proactive knowledge agent.Wade & Wendy has created a two-sided conversational agent for recruiting that aims to reduce the overall recruiting time while improving the level of satisfaction on both sides of the table.

GE ties up with IIT-M to set up Industrial Internet Centre

#artificialintelligence

Through the new Centre, GE and IIT Madras will create the Digital Twin of a smelter, a living digital model that will continuously generate new data and insights about the smelter that allows operators to run the smelters more efficiently. "A mere one percent increase in productivity through the application of Industrial Internet solutions can contribute to a 20 percent potential increase in performance for its customers," Azeez Mohammed, president & CEO, GE Power Services, Middle East & Africa. Researchers and students will work closely with the GE Global Research, GE Power Services Engineering and GE Digital teams at GE's John F. Welch Technology Centre in Bengaluru. These solutions will be developed using GE's Predix Industrial Internet operating system and Predix APM (Asset Performance Management), which optimises machines and operations to maximise business performance through three core capabilities - Machine and Equipment Health, Reliability Management, and Maintenance Optimisation.
