Simple Linear regression is a simple yet powerful supervised learning technique. The aim of linear regression is to identify how the input variable(explanatory variable) influences the output variable(response variable). Simple Linear regression performs the task to predict a dependent variable value (y) based on a given independent variable (x). So, this regression technique finds out a linear relationship between x (input) and y(output). Hence, the name is Linear Regression. In the figure above, X (input) is the work experience and Y (output) is the salary of a person.

The proliferation of free open source software has made machine learning easier to implement both on single machines and at scale, and in most popular programming languages. These open source tools include libraries for the likes of Python, R, C, Java, Scala, Clojure, JavaScript, and Go. Apache Mahout provides a way to build environments for hosting machine learning applications that can be scaled quickly and efficiently to meet demand. Mahout works mainly with another well-known Apache project, Spark, and was originally devised to work with Hadoop for the sake of running distributed applications, but has been extended to work with other distributed back ends like Flink and H2O. Mahout uses a domain specific language in Scala.

Machine learning in particular can often, at first glance, be considered as something at odds with creativity. However, in my experience, artificial intelligence is actually one of the most creative and dynamic technologies that exists today, and here's why. Machine learning is not one technology but the science behind a whole suite of different cognitive tools that use data to help make predictions. It accelerates the adaptability to consumer behaviour changes, and helps marketers modify their creative strategies to the right user, with the right message, at the right time. Although machine learning relies on technology to make decisions, the way it learns how to make these predictions is, in itself, a creative process.
